Re: Sonoma 14.4 crash/kernel panic/reboot with Kontakt 7
Kontakt 7.10.2 was just released. With 7.9.0... My main machine is running fine (M1 Pro)... Haven't updated yet... However... My secondary machine (M2), since updating NA2 a couple of days ago (K 7.9.0) hasn't been able to run Kontakt at all - instant crashing (some KPs/reboots) - for both AU plugi...

Re: Ode To Joy
As per BBC4 show earlier today, it was the longest symphony at the time, the first with a chorus, and was performed after only two rehearsals very soon after it was written. (And he did the score in Performer V0.001b) Wow! That is interesting. I have to imagine that lead poisoning has been a...

Re: Logic Pro 11 coming May 13
Well... another shot across the bow. More AI features... intelligent accompaniment stuff. I don't really think it's worth it for DP to try to go toe-to-toe on this stuff, but Apple really made it tough on third party developers when they released a DAW for $199 that essentially seems to give you fr...

Re: Sam Ash stores closing
I have gotten a few genuine bargains lately on used gear from a couple of Sam Ash stores advertising on Reverb. With stores closing, negotiating down on this merch should be easy. My last score was on a Zoom Q2n-4k with the $40 aux battery case, a card, aux handle and carry case under $160 shipped—n...

Re: Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and MOTU audio interface dropouts.
There is firmware in the Apple TB2–TB3 adapter. A few websites are recommending that the adapter be plugged into a TB3/4 port during a macOS update so that the adapter firmware updates as well. I have no idea if this is correct since none of those sites are Apple but it’s easy enough to do. One way ...

Neither of these pages say anything about f16–19. If these don’t work, you can call Apple and ask.

Re: Single interface (828x)-any reason to use external clock?
… Right. I know they’re “obsolete” now but with the old PCIe-424 systems, IIRC you didn’t need any external clock. With the newer ones I can see that making sense. I’m actually going to dig out my old Lucid clock and hook it up to my 828es and 24Ai just for giggles and try it out. As long as it doe...

Mike Halloran: Just want to say Thank You for keeping the flames of ye olde MOTU interfaces burning for so many MOTUNation members with your kind instructions! It is a beautiful thing. You're welcome. I keep thinking, "I don't use them (828mkII FW, MTP AV USB) anymore, let's see if I can sell ...

Re: Presonus Studio 1824c interface not working with DP11 (MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1)
I don't know if there is a driver among the "tools" in the download on this page. https://legacy.presonus.com/products/Studio-1824c/downloads If so, a new Mac needs to have security settings changed to Reduced Security before 3rd party drivers to install and load correctly. https://softwar...

Re: Single interface (828x)-any reason to use external clock?
MOTU recommends an external clock when there are three or more units connected. If you have sync issues, connect it over USB 2 instead of TB. The 828x uses a built-in Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter for connectivity. Since all MOTU FW devices run at FW400 speeds, there's a chance that the Fast USB 2...

Re: Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and MOTU audio interface dropouts.
Does it work connected over USB 2?
Although that does not support the track count of TB, there is no difference in latency. I the 828es works over USB, this should confirm that the TB adapter or TB2 cable is the problem.

Re: New Mac: Loud crackling driving me mad
Although discontinued, many resellers still stock it in the US. A search on eBay shows 82 for sale currently. No idea where to find one in the UK, however.Huh, typical Apple, I can't see the TB to FW adapter on the Apple UK site, just not listed. I guess it is discontinued.

Re: New Mac: Loud crackling driving me mad
Core Audio requires a USB 2 cable. Many cables no longer support the protocol. A "USB Printer Cable" is limited to USB 2. In fact, Yamaha recommends these specifically. I would order one from Amazon and see if that fixes you up—you can always return it if it doesn't. This is the usual prob...

Re: Orig 896- checking you all agree no drivers will work with it now
Hey all, I am about ready to discard an old orig 896. I downloaded the newest available MOTU audio driver installer that they offer for 896 but it won't install and says not compatible with Monterey. Barring using an old computer there's no way to communicate anymore with that old interface- is tha...

Re: ik Multimedia ARC 4
ik Multimedia ARC 4 I didn't realize they had the software available separately for users of the plugin version. I have ARC 3. Still the upgrade price is $99.99 and with my Jam Points I can only get it down to $84.99, so I think I'm going to pass for now. I still have SonarWorks that I have yet to ...
