Re: Melodyne Upgrades

A complete comparison among the different editions of Melodyne can be found on this page https://www.celemony.com/en/melodyne/melodyne-5-editions Interestingly, this says that Essential cannot do pitch to MIDI conversion but we know that it will in DP 11.2. Essential will not perform up to the level...

Re: Audio to MIDI

I just used Melodyne for Audio to MIDI today and it worked very nicely. For ARA, you must use the VST3 version, as has been noted. I have Melodyne Editor. Not sure if the limited version you get for free with DP will do the conversion, especially if the audio is polyphonic. Have you confirmed Melod...

Re: Melodyne Assistant—do I need it?

I just got an email for a sale on the upgrade from Melodyne Essential (basically comes with DP) to Melodyne Assistant (reg $149, now $49). The question is, what do I get? Does Melodyne function within DP as a group of plugins or is it a standalone app (or both—like RX10)? Yes to both. The most adva...

Re: EMU DISC ISO FILES ?!!

ISO are disk images and should just mount in the macOS. If you have Toast, there are other ways to mount them.

If still an issue, I can look at this next week when back in town at my Mac.

PSP 608 MultiDelay v. 1.8.5 (AAX, AudioUnit & VST3)
I was a beta tester. The AU now works in DP over Apple Silicon.

Re: Need help with ACX Audiobook with music and narration

The room noise is a “bed” and is constant. You can keep it that way or “duck” it under the music—manually or with a compressor side chain. Don’t make the effect so obvious that it calls attention to itself easy to do with comprehension). These are old techniques that precede digital by decades and t...

Re: Sonoma 14.5 Official Release - False Alarm?

So why does DP need the mic turned on in the first place? It worked fine for so many years without it. What am I missing? All DAWs, notation apps etc. This caused a huge fuss on some boards when the MP 6.1 came out with no built in microphone. It took Finale and Apple a year to get around that one....

Re: Sonoma 14.5 Official Release - False Alarm?

So I guess there’s no way to get rid of that ugly orange iOSsy mic icon in the menu bar when DP’s in use? Oh gosh... don't I wish. It's super annoying! Surely there’s a terminal hack somewhere. I’ll keep looking! If Sequoia does away with this I'm in. Full screen mode isn't even a workaround. MOTU ...

Re: How do I down convert from 32 bit fl. to 16 bit for CD?

Looks like the way to dither in DP is to put the Masterworks limiter on the master bus and choose the dither option. I'm leaving the limiting off since these tracks are already mastered. Does that sound right? The MasterWorks Limiter has some major performance issues in current macOS. There was a s...

Re: 828 MK II LEDs crap out..

There is a backlight that lights up the display. It and the power supply are known troublemakers when the unit gets hot and/or old enough. Sometimes it’s a cable or solder joint IIRC. Mine is so far not displaying this (pardon the pun) — yet? I am aware of the possibility down the road. There are ma...

Re: Microbook IIc - why drivers?

What driver are you installing? Are your security settings reduced in the repair partition? Did you follow the MOTU instructions for adding the drivers in the security settings?

Have you allowed your DAW to access the Microphone?

Re: Eventide Blackhole and Mac Studio performance hit

Clamshell mode applies to portables only when the lid is closed. The M2 Studio had plenty of issues without that.

Update the macOS, Eventide and DP to the latest versions and you’ll be fine.

Yep.

If I weren’t a few thousand miles away, I would post BTD screenshots but that won’t be possible till the weekend.

All MOTU USB 2 audio interfaces are class compliant—but for basic functionality only. For full functionality, one must install the Mac drivers.
