Re: MOTU DP Webinars Not Posted
I don't have any other brands I use that are doing webinars at all, but I feel you, it would be great if MOTU got off their ass with this. Universal Audio is a model for this. For a year now, the "Luna Office Hours" webinars for LUNA recording software are live-streamed on a regular basis...

Re: Bounce vs Real Time
...if what I'm listening is fine, then I know the file is. Groove, how do you figure that? I mean, isn't listening in real-time like listening to the Input side of a tape machine? You still had to do real-time playback to be sure what was on the tape was good? (and you still have to do a real-time ...

Re: Bounce vs Real Time
Yes, it may be considered redundant, and it could also be looked at as "quality control." I learned long ago that NOTHING leaves the studio unless I listen to it in real time, regardless of how the recording was achieved. Frankly, I would say it is actually foolish to "watch" th...

Re: Bounce vs Real Time
Always real-time. I find it more productive: if what I'm listening is fine, then I know the file is. Otherwise, I can stop anytime a problem occurs. I don't see the added value of waiting for a bounce to complete and then listening to it in real time anyway to make sure everything's OK. Kind of a re...

Re: Paste to Time code: where is it?
If you drag one or more soundbites to the left side of the Tracks window, a new audio track is reated for each soundbite and each soundbite is placed at it's SMPTE time-stamp location. Dave Yes, I'm aware of that. It's not practical with my workflow. Each of the film reels has a chunk - R1, R2, etc...

Unfortunately, yes.Tritonemusic wrote:Is that similar to what you're already doing?
You can paste to original time, but this applies to the measure format only, not the time code, no matter in what format the Time Formats preferences are set.
I'll chime the tech support or the suggestion box.

Paste to Time code: where is it?
Bloody hell!
I'm tired of copying audio stems from one chunk to another, pasting and THEN moving them to original timestamp. Is there a command in DP that I missed for pasting audio to timestamp in one step? (Apart from quickeys and stuff.)
Thanks,

Re: New Metagrid for iOS control of DAW....do me a favor
Just to play devil's advocate a little here; is there a point of diminishing returns? With input devices; qwerty, mouse/trackpad, MIDI controller; I'm wondering if it is workflow-efficient to reach for yet another input device for shortcuts. I can see how it would be helpful for someone who doesn't...

Re: New Metagrid for iOS control of DAW....do me a favor
The app is brilliant! Very easy to setup, the small OSX bridge Metaserver is unobtrusive and doesn't seem to conflict with Lemur Daemon. When you switch application in OS X , the view in Metagrid follows and shows the grid of commands for this app. There are screens already made for the Finder, Safa...

Re: The hardest instrument to mix...
If you have Altiverb or any other convolution reverb, choose a room, disable the tail and keep only the ER, start at 100% wet and adjust to taste. That is a setup I use frequently in an orchestral mix. Another one of my fav is UAD Ocean Way in Re Mic setup, muting the close mikes and balancing the m...

Re: Questions regarding the word "Stem"
The best definition I ever found is this one from a SOS article: "So what is stem mixing? Really, it's just submixing, but the point of stem mixing is to print each 'stem' (or groups of related elements: drums, for example) of your mix separately, rather than rolling them all into the main mix,...

Re: DP and the Mac Pro Late 2013: about to change my system.
Thanks everyone for your sound advices. I've already upgraded my CPU and GPU two years ago to the fastest ones my modest 2009 4-cores could get at the time and changed my internal HDs to SSDs. My only options are to max my ram from 24 to to 32 GB and get a eSATA PCI card as mike suggested. Get a PCI...

DP and the Mac Pro Late 2013: about to change my system.
I’m sure this topic might have been covered, but I can’t find any recent threads. Forgive me if I’m wrong! I have a question to the Unicorns who have changed their old Mac Pro to the new one. Have you noticed any significant improvements, speed bumps, stability compared to the system you had? Do you...

Re: New to DP, how do I multi-bounce stems like I did in Log
Select the tracks, including any aux and busses up to the last output stage of the tracks you want a stem and the region time length, hit bounce to disk and choose the relevant options for your project.
Repeat for the remaining stems you want to create.

Article Read: The next Web standard could be music notation
Peter Kirn at Create Digital music talks about a very interesting development for music notation involving some heavy weight partners to create an open source music notation code for the web.
