"Save as... with audio" will probably keep the timestamps. Try that.

Occasionally a certain specific set of actions done very rapid-fire will crash a program (not just DP). Sometimes slowing down and letting the computer accomplish each step can help. A good rule of thumb is let your computer catch up with your commands rather than getting too far ahead of it. This ...

"Mute frees system resources" is a big help in avoiding crashes and headaches. It's in Automation setup... This feature frees purges any plugins from RAM on a muted track. The downside is that you can't make on-the-fly mutes of audio-based tracks. The upside is that you don't have to dele...

I just completed a filmscore with a dual 2.7GHz G5 with DP and nothing but VIs and audio tracks... all without a hitch. Stuck MIDI notes at the very beginning of the project that went away... miraculously... everything else went nearly crash-free. I was impressed. It took a dual 2.7GHz G5, but it wo...

Thanks. Very much appreciated. Answered my question about "Slip, Slide, and Roll." Also, the imbedded automation in soundbites is something I've dreamed about. Shooshie That has been in Pro Tools for as long as I can remember, years for sure. I don't mind telling you that sometimes that i...

Jitter, to my ear, manifests itself as "distance from the original"... or the effect you get when you make a copy of a copy of a copy. Bad, jittery digital just sounds like a distant , false, facsimile, while good, jitter-free digital sounds like analog -- real, primary, direct. Vital. The...

Grimepoch... most consumers don't have anywhere near as good a monitoring setup as I do in my studio, but I still need accuracy to get good results while mixing. The unending struggle to eliminate jitter is a similar pursuit. The consumer may not be able to hear the detail that I can in my monitorin...

I always use a stereo bus within DP as a monitor/tracking bus, say bus 15-16. This way, when I'm ready to "go to tape" all I do is add a stereo track and set its input to bus 15-16. I'm almost always using VIs, so this avoids the need to track everything before I "bounce." This a...

Let me put it this way... I don't know if my wordclock inputs are "high impedence" and I doubt that most people do either. Even if I read the specs on the impedence of my word clock connectors on my gear, I wouldn't know how many units constitute "high impedence" in this context ...

Use a word clock distributor if there are not enough BNC connectors coming off of your clock source. Don't daisy chain. Use the same cable lengths and the correct impedence (75ohms)... this is what I've culled from numerous sources. Why not do it right? Daisy chaining IS right. There is absolutely ...
