EDIT COMMANDS JUST DELETING????
I'm working in 5.13 and am fairly experienced DP user. This is a new one... when I highlight a section of audio and then use edit commands such as repeat or splice it just erases the selected audio instead of splicing or repeating? I've never experienced this before and as far as I know haven't chan...

Re: WHY SHOULD I (or shouldn't) UPGRADE FROM 5.13 to 7?
Great replies so far... thanks to all! Please keep it coming... if there are more opinions I'm interested in hearing them. I've heard the UI is really different and I'm worried that that might frustrate me and make it hard to gain and keep flow & momentum as I finish this record? Does it take lo...

Re: WHY SHOULD I (or shouldn't) UPGRADE FROM %.13 to 7?
Thanks for chiming in! I'm definitely taking your advice into consideration. I upgraded from DP3 to DP4 on a previous project a few years back and it worked out well, but I don't know how major a change 6 & 7 is from 5? Also, I'll probably be working on this record off and on for another couple ...

WHY SHOULD I (or shouldn't) UPGRADE FROM 5.13 to 7?
I'm 2/3rds into an ongoing album project and have been thinking about up grading to DP 7 (from 5.13) Is there any compelling reasons why I should or shouldn't do this now vs after I finish this record? I've heard the interface is different and some things have moved around, but how big a re-learning...

Re: POWER OUTAGE... NOW SONG WON'T OPEN?
Thanks to all for advice about how to prevent problems in the future. UPS... yes, I'll be looking into UPS... thanks. I already have 1 or 2 back ups for every song I'm working on, but s**t happens... I've had setbacks and holdups, but I've never lost a song or file in 10 years of doing this almost e...

... especially since i just found out there's no more Unicornation??? Take a look up at the banner at the top of this page. See the part where it reads "formerly Unicornation?" You're in the right place. Just changed the name is all. Cool... James, sorry about that, I was in a hurry and d...

POWER OUTAGE... NOW SONG WON'T OPEN?
I was saving as song to disc when our neighborhood's power went out at the same time. That particular song now will not open... it says "Digital Performer is having trouble reading the file from the disc". Needless to say I'm kind of freaking out because it's a lot of work and a 15 gig fil...

CHANGING BPM/TEMPO MOVES AUDIO???
Hello, I'm importing wav files from a big studio Pro tools session into my home DP set up. I forgot to set the grid/tempo to the click tempo of the 1st song before importing. Now when I type in the right BPM the audio tracks get knocked all over the place by several measures. In the past I've adjust...

Re: "PLAYBACK" (not CPU) JACKED!!!!
another one nobody's thought of, how fast is your hard drive? for that many tracks it might help to have quite a fast one, especially at that speed: 24x96=2304 2304x35=80640 80640/1000=80.64Mbits per second in files alone, not including the rest of whats going on. you can change the sample rates no...

Re: "PLAYBACK" (not CPU) JACKED!!!!
There has to be more information than "don't record at 96k"... anybody know about Macs? Thanks RR That WASN'T EXACTLY what I was trying to say. I was trying to think of a reason why you are experiencing an issue that I have never run into. I was actually trying to be helpful. I'll avoid t...

Re: "PLAYBACK" (not CPU) JACKED!!!!
Thanks Phil... good suggestions. Where do I go to get info on how those things should be set up? I've also been rendering heavily edited tracks, but it's only mildly helping.

Re: "PLAYBACK" (not CPU) JACKED!!!!
Of course if I was doing a lower rate I would most likely not be having this problem, but it's too late to turn back now... the songs are almost done. Also, it seems like a lot of people are doing 96k on power pc's??? What effects PLAYBACK... the amount of tracks, processing, memory? Thanks, RR

"PLAYBACK" (not CPU) JACKED!!!!
Hello, I am having trouble playing back songs that are getting up into the 30-40 track range??? I'm working on a dual 1.8 GHz PPC G5 Mac with 4 G's of ram running 24 bit 96KHz using DP 5.12 with a modded 896HD. I am using a UAD card and minimal native plugs so my CPU is low, but when it gets toward ...
