If you are recording 24bit, there is no reason to record hot. I usually peak at around -12 to -6.

I am with you James. I have a SWR rig that takes a few hands to carry in to the club. But, when it comes to guitar (which I definately have a jumpin' jive at) I use a Fender combo. It's a heavily modded HRD (cheap, but the pcb resembles those of the old Fender combo's, so I get to put my 2M skills t...

Ahh, ever the salesman you are Brad. But I do agree with you. I just now realised it was you who did the follow up call when I ordered a few mics. It is good to know that my sales rep is on the same site that I frequent.

Personally, that sounds like a 2nd harmonic of 60Hz. I think it is an AC phase pulse that is leaking into your sound chain. Do you have anything to condition your power? Are you using the same wall wart? That is definately a 60Hz power tone. Maybe the AC to DC convertor is bad.

Gene's were never the best when it came to near-field. The make great fars, but there nears aren't very good. Dyn make good monitors for the price, my ears just don't like them that much. It is in the ear of the beholder.

Personally, I think the price was about the same the whole time if you deducted the value of the rebates that they had been offering for a long time. So, essentially, they just took away the rebate and adjusted the price to reflect that. I would have rather paid the lower price than get those horrib...

But what about the bands that are just pushing demos? They don't necessarily want to master the album because they're not trying to spend a lot of cash. In that case, I need to be able to provide mixes that can compete with other albums in volume. I've got a band coming in next month that wants to ...

If all of your faders are hitting -12 db then you have plenty of gain to send to the mastering house. Actually, if you have a good mastering engineer, he will be a heck of a lot happier than you sending pumped out and compressed mixes. A mix is not supposed to sound like CD mixes. That is what maste...

For some reason it came up in my Developers tools. I had to play with it. Ohhheh! Fun times. Then I lost my feed. I guess that is why I am not an Apple developer.

I have 2 travelers and an Onyx 800R through lightpipe. No problems whatsoever. But, the 800R did create timing issues when going to 2x sample rates. When you do that you have to use the S/MUX protocol. That means you are splitting 4 channels to one MOTU and 4 channels to the other MOTU. I ended up g...

Okay, I am no genius and I'm propably making myself the ground as suggested earlier, but since my studio has power conditioners and other elctrical protection I'm okay with my low-tech solution. I bought aligator clips and wire at radio shack and made a small cable which I then clip to the bridge p...

I've heard my own KRK V4s, V6s and the Mackie 824s in a room designed by John Sayers. I would rather have the KRK V series II. They were my first pick when I first went monitor shopping (at least for near-fields, as I am pretty used to loudspeaker systems), but the Mackies were always last to me. Th...

Finder has had many problems in it's past, that is why they came out with spotlight. But, the problem you have is that it isn't in Mac OS journaled. It is FAT 32. That wheel will keep spinning and spinning and you will get nothing. Very common. You can try searching for all files and see if that wor...
