Is this the sync test that runs when launching Nuendo - like when one installs a new sound card? That sync test usually verifies against the cheap onboard sound card. If your motherboard has on board sound, make sure the drivers are installed for the on board sound card and let the sync test verify ...

I am daisy chaining 2 896s. I have not thoroughly tested the setup (had the 2nd one for a few days). But so far everything that I have tried works. What specifically does not work for you?

Thanks for the info. I have been tracking 24/96. Will the lightpipe hook up method limit me to 48K or is it just used for sync?

I have an 896HD and want to use my other 896 (not HD) to gain 16 channels of I/O. Can I daisy chain the two units via fire wire to achieve this? Will they sync via fire wire or do I need AES or something?
