I'm getting ready to finally say goodbye to Windows XP.
The burning question: Windows 7 or Windows 8.1?
I'm using a MOTU 2408Mk3 with a PCIX-424 card.

2408mk3: Phantom output lights.
Got an odd situation here. 2408mk3 connected to a Tascam DM-24 via TDIF, with the Tascam providing word clock to the 2408mk3. When I power up the studio, once everything is up and running, I get 2-3 random output lights on the 2408mk3. There's no audio present on these outputs, not even random noise...

2408mk3: Quick questions about analog input routing
On the 2408mk3, if I have all my banks set to TDIF, does that essentially prevent signals on the analog inputs from going anywhere? In other words, are the analog ins only active as long as one of the banks is set to "Analog?" Also, if I do set a bank to Analog, is it possible for the sign...

2408mk3 changes sample rates on its own when I play videos
I've got a 2408mk3 connected via TDIF to my Tascam DM-24. DM-24 is word clock master. PC runs Windows XP sp3. I've only had this configuration for 5-6 months, so I'm not sure if this problem has always been there, or if something changed. I find it hard to believe I've never done this until this wee...

Re: Missing an output on 2408MkIII using TDIF
Never mind.
Figured it out. Turns out the SMPTE Console had the generator assigned to that output. The fact that I wasn't even using it notwithstanding.

Missing an output on 2408MkIII using TDIF
My setup is as follows: 2408mk3 connected to Tascam DM-24 mixer via three TDIF cables. PCI-424 card. I was mixing on the DM-24, using my DAW as playback to all 24 channels of the 2408. The problem is that whatever is assigned to TDIF Bank B Channel 8 does not pass audio. I've tried a couple differen...

Re: 2408mk3 with stray signals??
O.K. Spoke too soon.
Now Bank A is showing output on 7 and 8, but there's no audio present. Hitting Refresh in the Audio Console program isn't helping.

Re: New driver request?
Ah, sorry! I assumed the driver was the same for all of them. I'm using a 2408mk3.

Re: New driver request?
Are you referring to the Enable Routing checkbox? I tried that and it didn't make any difference.

New driver request?
Any chance that MOTU might come out with a Windows driver for their multichannel interfaces that lets Windows see the device as one multichannel device rather than a dozen separate stereo sound cards? Not that it stops anyone from recording or mixing multiple channels with their favorite DAW; but it...

Looks like clicking Refresh in the audio console program took care of it.

2408mk3 with stray signals??
I have a 2408mk3 connected to my Tascam DM-24 via two TDIF cables on Banks A and B. Bank C has nothing connected to it. The problem is that I'm looking at the front panel of the unit and the output LED for Channel 8 on Bank C is lit. In the PCI Audio Console, I have all three banks set for TDIF, and...

Re: (Soon to be) Proud New Owner of a 2408mk3
Well, it arrived yesterday; and last night I got it all hooked up and tested! Works great!
16 channels of TDIF (I have to buy one more TDIF cable), with word clock coming from the DM-24. Still have to connect the analog stuff, but I have to make the cables first.
AWESOME!

Re: (Soon to be) Proud New Owner of a 2408mk3
You can switch it on before your PC boots or after your PC boots - works either way. Also, if you leave the rack unit on, it stays silent if you reboot or shutdown your PC, so you can reboot without needing to switch off or mute your monitors, which is nice. This I like! With my old Mixtreme 192 ca...
