I just went to the Waves site. My WUP has expired and they want $297 for a year of coverage. This is crazy! Shouldn't this be a free download for those of us who have suffered through all of the bugs? Is there any way DP Waves users could petition for a fair policy around this? Any ideas? Thanks. I...

And as a Bills fan  I say go Pats because I need to stop watching the '72 Dolphins crack the Champagne every time the last undefeated team goes down year after year!
They cannot be the only ones in that club!

I've had no problems using the high setting. It's set it & forget it. I would think with your Mac Pro you would have no worries at all.

Re: Real drums for a real drummer

I would persevere with the drum booth and the real drums mate. I know it's a ball ache but not compared to triggering. There are so many compromises with triggering that by the time you finished you've lost all the feel. Give me a baggy old REAL kit any day. Yeah, the one thing I don't want is a lu...

I realize I'm getting a little off topic here, but what kind of heads are you using? I've used Remo's for many years, but after hearing a kit recently outfitted with Aquarians, I'm considering ordering some the next time I re-head my kit. Don't forget how variable the sound can be simply by changin...

Hi Joel, Just to offer another approach, have you considered using the sounds you have rather than replacing them. I've recorded drums in a small space and used carefully selected reverb to make them sound huge. Sure it's not the same as recording in a castle, but with careful mic placement and som...

Here is my $.02 for what it is worth. I do a lot of on-the-spot and live recording and cutting fast-and-dirty demos for various bands in their practice spaces, so I am very familiar with trying to milk the best drums possible in tough situations. What I do is this: mic up the drums as best I can (a...

I guess what gets me with them (at least if you're playing more than 'moderately expressively') is that what you play is not quite what you get ... whereas with V-drums what you play is what you get .... does that make sense?! .....  Yes it does! But a crisp, tight, damped, non-resonan...

Thanks for the replies Daveyboy & Spikey Horse. I remember back to the days when I had a set of Simmons drums 'cause it was all the rage & dove briefly into using those as triggers on an Ensoniq Mirage sampler using the MIDI outputs from the SDS9 brain. I dug that old puppy out of the closet...

Real drums for a real drummer

Hello nation, It's become evidently clear I have to get my drum sound up to snuff. I am a real drummer & seems that almost all my clientele use real drummers & acoustic drums. The problem I have is that my dedicated drum room is much too small to get a fabulous drum sound although it is dece...

Where's my Fireface 800 outputs?

I have no idea what happened but there are no input/output options recognizing my FF inside DP on my Mac Pro. I know it's working as I can use it for Peak & itunes. I trashed MOTU prefs & restarted... I reinstalled the latest RME updates... I was thinking about trashing the Audio/MIDI prefs ...

Hey, did anyone at the show happen to notice if those little yellow help balloons reared their ugly heads or were magic Dave's fingers too nimble?
Maybe that's where he earns his nickname. :o

Frodo said "Apple strongly recommends against installing an early OS that shipped with the machine. I've never risked it, but I'm sure some intelligent soul has figured out how to pull it off." Boy are my BB skills lacking...I forgot how you do that PIP thing. Anyways, I didn't even know i...

Tiger on a new Mac Pro?

Just thought I'd ask the question. I know Apple doesn't want to look backward but some (most?) of us have great software that is NOT even Leopard compatible yet.

Ok, thanks all, I'm feeling really good about the transition. I plan on keeping the old hard drives & will use them with Tiger as my starting point. How does Tiger play with the Mac Pro? Where does ram amount start giving diminishing returns if I only have 1 program open at a time. Are virtual i...
