Alrighty then, that sounds like a good strategy.
I think I have lots of older USB cables around that I can try before ordering more, but I will save your reply.
Thanks!

old 828x and new M2 Mac Mini
I have been using the 828x with a 2014 Mac Mini Intel, OS 14.7 via USB. I have a new Mac Mini M2 and I'd like to keep using the 828x if possible. I see in some posts that the Thunderbolt 2 on the 828x was adapted FW 400, so is there any point in trying to use a Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adaptor from the 82...

Re: Single interface (828x)-any reason to use external clock?
I just found my old rack mount external clock unit. It’s a Lucid GENx192. I have some empty spaces to fill up. I’m gonna throw it in the rack and do some experiments with it. In the past, I’ve actually had occasional issues with DP not changing project sample rates or thinking there was a mismatch ...

Single interface (828x)-any reason to use external clock?
I have used an Apogee Rosetta for decades because at the time, I thought the conversion sounded warmer and better than the MOTU 828mkII. Rosetta is clock master, over TOSlink. It's been reliable, and clients seem happy with my tracks. With my newer 828x, I'm thinking of simplifying and ditching the ...

Re: Mac Doesn't Recognize MOTU UltraLite Hybrid Mk3 Audio Inputs
I'm having the same issue with 828x, OS 12.6.3, DP 11, latest MOTU audio driver
Support ticket started.
Like the OP, I *can* record into Logic Pro, but I really would prefer to use DP 11 that I just upgraded.
I have been using DP since 2003 and pretty well have my workflow streamlined.

Re: Ghost Movie Message
From my discussion with MOTU: I just opened an old file, that never showed the "Unable to locate Movie File" box when I opened it in DP 7. When I open it in DP 9, the movie box appears. I just opened that same file in DP 7. No "Unable to locate Movie File" box. I did discover tha...

Re: Ghost Movie Message
Yes, and it didn't work for me. Well, it only worked for the one project.
Every new project has to be fixed.
I was hoping for a global solution.

Bump for 2017. DP 9.13 does this as well.
Any way to stop it?

Re: DP 7.24 suddenly can't see 828x I/O
Thanks, but I found it.
No idea how Built-in audio was selected instead of 828, but that was all it took.
I hadn't changed anything in Hardware setup in years.

Re: DP 7.24 suddenly can't see 828x I/O
TMB restore didn't change anything, and in fact gave me an error message: "myusername" can't be modified because it's required by OS X. So that may be another issue to chase. Well, I decided to try a demo of DP 9, just to see if anything would change. Not at first. Then the new box on the ...

Worth a shot but nope.
Maybe I'll go to my Time Machine and restore before the last time it worked on Friday.

DP 7.24 suddenly can't see 828x I/O
I have also sent this to DP, but with the holiday, maybe someone here can help sooner. Thanks in advance for any ideas. Finished (fortunately) an overdub project, using 828x as my interface. Had been working fine with this setup for a few weeks. All good. Closed DP. Did a few other things, no OS or ...

USB active extension to 828x?
Hoping to re-do my room with the computer farther away from 828x. About 18-20 feet. I have read this on MOTU support: Maximum USB cable length The maximum cable length MOTU recommends between a USB computer and USB interface is 5 meters (16.5 feet). Longer runs can be achieved through the use of pow...

Re: Monitor level louder than playback with new 828x??
Well, I managed to juggle the DP mixer master fader playback volume and the guitar track volume and get closer. Just seems like I shouldn't have to do that. If the channel fader is affecting the volume of the direct playthrough, couldn't it be calibrated so the playback is equal? FWIW my record leve...
