Definitely!

Plus full elastic audio and I'll never need Logic again!

Re: CPU usage meter doesnt change much after processor upgra

I have compared DP's CPU meter with Activity monitor many times. My conclusion is that the DP's meter shows the thread with the highest CPU usage and not overall CPU usage. Many times I have had DP (and Logic) stop with CPU overload even though my CPUs overall are being used quite lightly, but one c...

Re: Hello again everyone! ... and a question, of course :)

I’m guessing that there will not be a bridge. I have some plug-ins that won’t ever be updated to 64-bit (like Virtual Guitarist 2). I’d have to run them under VE Pro.

Re: Hello again everyone! ... and a question, of course :)

@MIDI Life Crisis: Hello Michael! Thanks for the welcome. I have had a look at your site – very interesting! That’s quite a catalogue you have there… I have used some big-ish templates with Logic, so I’m hoping to try the same with DP. Once the dust has settled I will definitely go over to the compo...

Re: Hello again everyone! ... and a question, of course :)

@DZ: Yes I checked with MOTU before ordering DP7. I am eligible for a free upgrade to DP8 when it comes out, which is brilliant. It’s what made me decide to buy the DP7 upgrade now, rather than wait for 8. Well, if elastic time is the only thing I miss, then I’ll be doing pretty well. It was about 4...

Hello again everyone! ... and a question, of course :)

Hello everyone! I used to be a regular on this forum until I moved to Logic a few years ago. This forum was always very friendly and helpful and I remember four members in particular: James (of course), Frodo, Shooshie and Monkey Man (who could forget him :P ). I’m sure others helped me back then a...

Re: New MacBook Pros

Good to see you peeking in, Ty!! Hi Frodo! Well I’ve got to see what you all guys are up to! Dunno what the Steve-ster is up to these days. If he knows the future, he'll either take us all with him or he'll leave us al behind! Well I guess the proof will be in the sales. I imagine that most p...

Re: New MacBook Pros

Thanks for that link Frodo. I love this comment from Kyle: “I hate it just as much as the next person — however, Steve hardly steers us wrong. The problem is, is that Steve is about 5 years ahead of all of us, and knows the future. Apparently, Firewire isn’t in it.” In that case, remove Firewire IN ...

Re: New MacBook Pros

Pro is for professionals. They're making that distinction clearer with this release. If you are a professional, you should not be looking at MacBooks. Those are for people like my wife, who is going to buy one this weekend. She is a school teacher, does some stuff with film editing, is an amateur d...

Re: New MacBook Pros

Ok I’d better retract some of last post!

I didn’t realise that you could buy a cheap adapter cable to plug FW400 devices into your FW800 port.

Still, would have been nice if Apple could have included the adapter!

Re: New MacBook Pros

Hmmm this is worrying. Apple are turning into Microsoft – i.e. later products don’t contain what was in earlier products. The new 15 “ MacBook Pro dropping Firewire 400 support but keeping Firewire 800 support? That’s odd surely. You have to buy a 17” MacBook Pro to get the slower FW 400 port – huh?...

Re: DP6 Audio Overload and freezes every 10 minutes

Hello I have some good (although odd) news for you. I have two Syncrosoft dongles, one for my Steinberg stuff (such as Hypersonic 2) and one for VSL. I have had exactly the same problems as you. It’s not a DP problem, I see the same errors in Logic and Cubase. I’ve never had these problems on a PC a...

Re: Stuck MIDI notes DP6.01!

Stuck notes happen in various versions of DP combined with various versions of drivers. Sometimes using the latest driver will get rid of it, and other times it is the CAUSE of it. It takes a while for MOTU to figure out the problem, but they always do. I expect this kind of thing to happen when th...

Re: Symphobia WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What happens when we're all using it, and it takes about 3 seconds into a clip to say "aha... Symphobia!" Hi Shoshie I agree – but the same can be said (in fact, has been said) about other libraries, particularly Storm Drum – those loops stick out like a sore thumb. I spotted a standard S...
