Separating Music from a DVD
I second getting involved with student film makers. If available, take film and video production courses at a community college. On the first day of class, when everyone usually gets a chance to introduce themselves, mention you're into music composition and production. The students who already have...

Re: STOP ONLINE PIRACY!
From what I've read about SOPA all you have to do is claim copyright to have a website shut down. Does this mean I could have my old band's website shut down because they have a music video for a song that was largely based around my ideas? Would it even matter if I'm telling the truth? So, MIDI, I ...

"service battery, battery is charged" message
[quote="Dan Walsh"] The new batteries fro apple are ridiculously overpriced (IMHO) but I bought an after market battery and all is well again.

Say, where do you get one of these batteries?

Re: DP on the bench for tech use
You must mean you're using Cue Mix because DP doesn't provide much functionality on its own for this sort of testing. If I'm missing something please let me know because I'm always happy to find a new way to utilize DP. Since you're into electro-acoustical testing and analysis have you checked out h...

Re: No more HP-P(O)Cs
It's sad how much technology is in this HP Touchpad and they just can't do anything with them. They are probably great devices but I just don't have any desire to own one. All the apps I want are on iPad, maybe some are on Android too at this point. What a waste of human and environmental resources ...

Re: Big Linear File Inquiry re: RAM, etc.
I have MenuMeters installed so I can watch my RAM as I record. Having done some 2 hour, 24track recording sessions on my MBP, I can attest that the project can eats away RAM over time. By the end of the recording the GUI gets sluggish and I have to be patient with my mouse clicks, saving constantly ...

Re: A 10,000 track composition created entirely in DP.
I read a slew of the posts on this thread before checking out the actual song. It's a bit of a let down after so much build up but it had some good parts. Definitely sounds interesting. I think 2000 tracks could've done the trick. Then I read the massive lineup of performers involved and found some ...

using an Alesis BRC to varispeed w/ 828mk3
How can I vari-speed my life? I need more time between my thoughts and my speech. I never get it right in the first take and I can't just quit this orchestra of 6billion. Practice, patience, and cookies.
I'm curious about the BRC too. It's fun to play with old gadgets
