I suppose what I want to know is are there usually other components which need to be replaced when the firewire connectors are fixed i.e. chips etc
My 828 is out of warranty so I don't want to spend fortune when it could be a simple-ish repair.
Anyone know? Cheers Damon

Repairing a MOTU 828 MKII
I need to get my firewire ports fixed on my 828 mkII. Is this something I can do myself? ie do I just replace the firewire ports themselves? I'm quite handy with a soldering iron. I know this is a common problem judging by the number of posts on the forum here so thought I might give it a go. Any he...

Re: 828 MKII and Mac Pro - 828 is on but nobody's home
Hi
Thanks for the reply. Other firewire devices do work i.e. like external drives.
And no, it doesn't show up under firewire devices in the system profiler.
So maybe the firewire ports have failed.
Do you know if this is a common problem?
Cheers Damon

Dear All, Until yesterday everything was fine. 2009 Mac Pro tower running Logic/Live/Snow Leopard and the 828 doing it's job. Then I got some new studio furniture so unplugged everything after switching off the power. I plugged everything back together and the Mac Pro just can't see the 828....

Connecting an 828MKII, a 96khz finalizer and a CDR
Dear Unicornation This is my first post here so hello! I recently sold nearly all my analogue gear (including my Mackie 32:8 and a lot of synths) so that I could mostly go digital but I'm a bit confused as to how I should connect my 828 and the finalizer. I currently run my active monitors straight ...
