I just copy a snippet of silence from somewhere and paste it into the beginning of each track, but I'm probably doing it wrong.

I also do a duplicate take of everything before merging, so that I can go back to the un-merged versions if need be.

If I were Motu, I would have waited to release DP6 until winter time, when there are less bugs out and about. This is summer, fer cryin' out loud - there are bugs everywhere!

To simplify - can you take a digital output, say an adat lightpipe, and route it back to a digital input? I do that with a 2408, but there's a digital mixer in the middle of the chain.

It was probably the buffers, which were set at 512 for some strange reason. I had always assumed they were set at 1024, which was the case a while back. Could be last time I trashed the DP prefs to get my 2408 to work, the 512 buffers setting came back.

Thanks for the reminder.

Audio Engine has dropped samples

I never got this message with DP 4.61 in OS 10.3.9, but as soon as I upgraded to 10.4.11, every time I'm playing a session with more than around 20 tracks, the 'audio engine has dropped samples' box pops up sparodically. Sometimes this happens during recording. I don't lose anything, but it's freaky...

The Mysterious Disappearing 2408

I've had a BLA modded 2408 running for at least a year now. I have a second unmodded 2408 that I only turn on when I need more adat outputs. (All these outputs go to a digital mixer.) So today, I started DP and the 2408 wouldn't show up. Turned it off, waited, turned it back on - same thing. The cli...

Number one would be the BLA mod on the 828. It makes a huge difference. Plugging a good pre into a stock 828 is going to get you nowhere, other than adding a bit of character from the pre. But as far as clarity and detail goes, you won't be hearing it until you upgrade the A/D of the 828. For a clea...

The ADK Hamburg IIau sounds pretty thick. Hey, it's got a capsule designed in Australia! I wonder if you'd get the Australian discount?

I found a foot pedal online. It plugs into the usb hub and acts like the clicker on the mouse. I use it when tuning vocals and such - when I have to keep the mouse button depressed while dragging. I suppose it would work if the mouse pointer was hovering over the transport buttons. But why not use a...

The waves de-esser is one of the best software ones going, if you can handle dealing with the company. You posted while I was typing. I haven't tried the Waves de-esser, mainly because I've already demo'd their stuff once, and now I can't demo it again. What a loser company, although I do use their...

Have you asked the vocalist to either use a different mic/preamp, or change their mic technique? One suggestion is for the singer to change the angle of the mic, so that the voice goes past the mic instead of directly into it - like raise the mic so it's pointing at his chest. Or try the pencil tric...

I've notice with dragging and dropping, you have to have good aim with the mouse. Also noticed, if you miss your MIDI track and try to drop it into an audio track, it'll crash DP 4.6.1 - at least it did a couple hours ago, but that was the first time that's happened. Never tried adding to the column...

I've had the Nashville expansion pack for a while now. I think it's got some great grooves, especially for brushed snare rather than sticked snare. The train beats are cool, and the shuffles and half-time grooves work great. Fortunately, I work with real drummers more than EZ drummer, but when I've ...

I'm pretty sure if you select 'word clock' in the audio menu up at the top of the screen next to the counter (DP4.6) and there's no word clock coming in, there will be no audio playing. I know this because now and then when I have mine set for 'adat sync' instead of word clock, and the HD24 isn't tu...
