Update. MOTU instructed to pull the 424 card _and then_ re-install the drivers without the card installed. Although this fix has worked for some, my 8 core Mac still 'permanently' loses the 2408's after falling asleep.

Any help would be great...

I'm sorry to say that the solution that worked for you did not work for me. I've tried the clean re-install several times and am still having the same problem. I will post back any new findings for the sake of other readers facing the same problem.
