Re: Hands Free Recording with a Mackie Control Universal
I use an FCB1010 MIDI foot controller and the MCU control surface setup so I can do it from my floorboard. Works peachy. Play, rewind, pause, arm, etc. The Commands setup for MIDI control will do the same thing as well. I use the DP->MCU output to drive a MIDI decoder to control the studio recording...

Re: How did you get started using Digital Performer?
I honestly can't put a year on it, mid-90's I think, but I was at a friends place. He lived in an apartment, was a keyboardist and had a closet converted to a vocal booth. Compact to say the least but he was doing a whack of recording with all sorts of talent from there. He was showing me what he co...

Re: DP performs better, snappier with SSD Drive?
Wonder what TRIM does. Where is your room? Nice pic. When a file is erased on a regular HD only the directory entry itself is zero'd out, the actual data stays on the HD until it's over written by some new data. Which is why data recovery companies can pull your "erased" data off an HD. T...

Re: DP performs better, snappier with SSD Drive?
I think you'll find they start out fast on boot then slow down considerably with use. Still faster than a fast SATA though. Don't know why. SSD boot drives have allot of overhead I guess. Data works consistently fast though. That's what I've read but it's been anything but that for me, so far. My b...

Re: DP performs better, snappier with SSD Drive?
It's one of those "depends on what you do and expect" things. I run two SSD drives, boot and data. First off, just booting my MacPro (2007) only takes about 21 seconds. Certainly a marked difference from my other 2010 and 2011 Mac Pros. From the click on DP in the dock to get it going, I u...

Re: Who is running a SSD for their internal system drive?
For those waiting for Lion and the TRIM support, there is a patch available that will enable TRIM on Snow Leopard 10.6.6/7. It's patches the KEXT to support any SSD drive, not just the ones that come in the Apple MBP's. The catch is that your drive has to support TRIM, and apparently from what I can...

Re: Who is running a SSD for their internal system drive?
So you guys are dragging a copy of each project to your SSD drive, working from there and then saving changes to a standard drive correct? I work IT for living and the experiences I've had with SSDs was not good. We purchased Dell laptops with SSDs as factory and although they were amazingly fast f...

Re: Who is running a SSD for their internal system drive?
I have two OCZ Vertex 2's 80GB SSD's in my MacPro. One is for the boot drive and it contains all the apps that I commonly use in the studio (Wave Burner, DP, Addictive Drums, etc). The second SSD is my project drive where all the recorded audio goes and nothing else. There's a third drive Seagate Ba...

Re: Found a Recording Lamp compatible with DP..
Wow. That's an expensive little solution. I'm also not big on the idea of having to rely on Java software to act as the go between for DP and the Punch Light operation...

Re: Crazy Question... red light for record
This thread is fairly old, but the recording light thing has been one of those items I've wanted for who knows how long. The new version of Logic has a "recording light control surface" built in but Dp doesn't. That did slow me down for a while... Being an electronics buff, software progra...

Re: Getting M-Audio 410 to work with DP7
If you need to ever send any SYSEX out via M-Audio 410, you'll probably find it doesn't work. It will read SYSEX perfectly, it just won't send it. The 1.8.3 driver and Snow Leopard has worked for some as a work around, but not others. The 1.9.x version of the drivers won't work at all for SYSEX send...

Re: MOTU's DP CONTROL for iPhone up on App Store now!!!!!!!!
OK, I heard from MOTU that you can install it and run it on 1st-2nd Generation iPod Touch but that it might run sluggish due to less RAM and slower processor on those models. I would imagine higher track counts is where you would start to see the sluggishness. So I guess, MOTU just didn't want to o...

Re: Another cool iPad app: S1MidiTrigger
I've been using the previous version and yes, there is some latency even with the computer-to-computer link. The latency shows in the oddest places at the oddest times. One time an RTZ will simply work, the next, it will miss. But apart from that, it's dead simple to use and setup and I love how you...

Re: TUTORIAL: AC-7Pro & iPad/iPhone for DP 6.02 through 7.12
Forgive me if this has been covered before, but is there any chance that this will work with blutooth? I HAVE blutooth in my Mac Pro, but no airport card. Nope, Apple doesn't support Bluetooth wireless connections for internet sharing on the iPad. Airport, router or nothing. I added both an airport...
