Firewire output muting

I have some MOTU PRE8's and a 896 mk.III. On my old G4 Tiger everything works perfect but on my MacBook Leopard the output often mutes and a complete restart is sometimes necessary to restore it (Inputs keeps working). I have tried 10.5.6 and 10.5.7 but that didn't make any difference. Has anyone ex...

Thanks for your efforts :-) Good works and a bit of fun, too!
I have a small problem with the plug-ins being light blue: Selected plug-ins don't stand out
Can you make the transport bar smaller? There's a lot of wasted space there. I liked the old concept with a main counter and an aux counter.

Re: New MacBook Pros

There must be a million amateurmusicians out there with small firewire audiointerfaces who would love the better graphics performance of the new MacBooks. Motu definitely didn't see this coming with their great firewire-lineup. I've been doing 48 track recordings (Big Band) on a regular basis with m...

I've done some testing and have succesfully recorded 90 minutes of 48 tracks with 3 x 8pre and a MacBook. At first I had drops too but then I did the following: Set "Buffer Size" to its maximum to give the processor time to do its different tasks. Set "Host Buffer Multiplier" to ...

If I move 6.06 projects from my MacBook Intel to my old G4 the same happens (Parameters going to odd extremes!). DP 5.12, Altiverb 6.06 and OSX 10.4.9 on both computers. I haven't tried it with 6.07 yet.

I'm doing my CD-mastering in Waveburner Pro on my old G4 in system 9.2. It has Pow-R dithering (All three versions). A brilliant program. Apple got it together with Logic when they bought Emagic, but they appear to have "downgraded" it before releasing it for OSX in the big Logic package. ...

Running all plugins in real time might help on some of the problems. I would like a global setting of that parameter.

I have tried to install the Waves Gold Bundle for Logic several times but most of the AU's crashes the DP examination. I don't understad it after having read MegaDPuser's happy post. My tech-specs are almost identical. Any others with succes/failure/suggestions? MacBook, 2GHz, 2Gram, DP5.11, OS 10.4...

10.2.8 was a bad upgrade thrown at us just before 10.3. I went back to 10.2.6 and I was happy again! (But now I'm on 10.4.4 and happier!) ..and RAM is a relatively cheap way of upgrading your computer. Try it!

Re: DP instead of Peak/DSP Quattro

I haven't used a two-track editor since it became possible to bounce and export in all the QuickTime formats. If you have the right plug-ins you can do everything audio in DP except burning CD's. But if you need to make CD Pre-Masters with ISRC codes or Enhanced Mode CD's or other specialities you h...

Re: Audio drop out from CPU spiking in Tiger?...

I think it might be a disk reading problem. Somehow the disk gets busy getting all the files ready. I can use 2 Altiverbs or my Powercore 'verbs; it doesn't matter. So I don't feel it's a processor problem. But the processor stresses because it don't get the needed files on time. This also explains ...
