I Contacted MOTU Tech on this issue and stated the problem

Still not quite working
Thanks to NPATTON for getting me further along, but I can't quite close the deal. Your tip about holding down the "data Transfer" button while pressing "bulk dump" did make the D-50 initiate a Bulk dump. But Unison just says in the status window: "Getting Patch Bank from Rol...
