check your routing. You should be able to get a headphone mix and a separate mix for your main outs. These are not necessarily the same mix. The gear is designed so that you can run a number of main mixes and a number of headphone mixes. At least that is the basis of MOTUs mix routing.

I had the first problem of no recogniton and then had the second of no device found after I installed the drivers and updated them in device manager.
