Considering a move to AVB -- what do I need for my setup?
I have a pretty nice traditional setup already -- I take parts of it out on location with a laptop for location recordings. 16-channel XLR snake into my 896mk3 and Precision 8 (w/Rosetta 800). I've got some gigs coming up in the next 6 months that, if I take them, would require either some new gear,...

Re: My Confusion around assigning Main Outputs / Default out
thanks, that did the trick. I have never opened that before...I assume it gets setup initially (on the first run of DP, or setup of new MOTU hardware) based on how things are set in the MOTU Audio setup app? My guess is that for some reason I had the 896 setup with the Audio 1-2 as the default outpu...

Re: My Confusion around assigning Main Outputs / Default out
Ok, I just changed them to the following values: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/8zj403gxq5m0vxr/Screenshot%202018-06-25%2011.47.21.png?dl=0 I quit DP, restarted DP, created new blank project, created a new mono track, stereo track and master fader. Here's what I'm seeing: https://dl.dropbox.com/s/v6ve988z...

My Confusion around assigning Main Outputs / Default outputs
I'm sure this issue is just a setting that I have incorrectly applied somewhere, but thought I'd post anyway, as I didn't see a similar thread anywhere. Bought an 896mk3 about 6 months ago. Works great. Using it with DP 9.52. I switched to a new iMac (running 10.12.6) a little over a month ago, and ...

NVRAM / PRAM reset did the trick, thanks for the memory jog!

896 mk3 Hybrid - Firewire "Bandwidth not available." message
Just bought an 896 mk3 Hybrid to replace my old-school FW400 Motu 8 pre. Already had the newest MOTU Audio drivers installed (1.6 73220) on my Mac (running 10.11.6). Connected the 896 via one of the Apple thunderbolt to FW800 adapters. Nothing else connected to either Thunderbolt bus. Restarted the ...

Yup, another first gen 8pre user with a thunderbolt Mac. Works just fine, absolutely no issues to report.

Re: burn to disc help?
BTW, if not used to buying disks for a Mac, you want CD-R . CD+R is available but that was an HP thing that never got much traction. It works but may be incompatible with many players when used for audio. Never heard of a CD+R before. Googling brings up nothing. There is/was a DVD+R standard. Perha...

Re: Are newer versions of izotope denoiser less CPU hungry?
sorry, but I do understand how plugins work. I understand how RX3 works and I am able to successfully identify and remove unwanted noise. Are you reading the previous replies about how "apply plugin..." works? I'm not asking how to add a plugin to a track insert. I know how to do that. You...

Re: Are newer versions of izotope denoiser less CPU hungry?
Not in my studio right now, so the exact words may be somewhat different, but I hope you get the idea: - in S.E. (Sequence Editor), select a small silent part of the soundbite (noise alone with no music) - in DP audio menu chose apply plugin, chose RX - in RX window chose learn - in S.E., select th...

Re: Are newer versions of izotope denoiser less CPU hungry?
Mike, you seem to be referring to the option to change plugin behavior to pre-gen, rather than running it in realtime. that's not what I'm referring to. select some soundbites in a sequence. Go to the "audio" menu, select "apply plugin". Select a plugin, tweak settings, then clic...

Re: Are newer versions of izotope denoiser less CPU hungry?
thanks, but that's my question...how do I tweak RX once I've selected the track, clicked "apply plugin" and clicked "apply"? DP processes the audio with RX settings I specify. If I want to tweak RX settings at that point, where do I go to pull up the RX GUI?

Re: Are newer versions of izotope denoiser less CPU hungry?
ok, so I've made a copy of one of the projects in question, bypassed all the realtime instances of rx3 in the project, and using the "apply plugin" option have applied RX3 with copied settings from the other instances. Now, not that I need to do so at this point, but if I wanted to go back...

Re: Are newer versions of izotope denoiser less CPU hungry?
thanks...yeah, I do that same method for helping RX3 learn the noise. Works very well, doesn't it? It's somewhat reassuring to hear that you get this same behavior with other resource-hungry plugins. I have just always run everything in real time, though I suppose in this case it should speed up bou...

Are newer versions of izotope denoiser less CPU hungry?
Been using the izotope RX3 denoiser in projects for several years. Working on a longer-form project right now. Have a couple of different DP files...they're each in the 1hr range length. Only 4-6 tracks on each, but I'm needing to use 3-4 instances of rx3 denoiser in the project because different tr...
