Re: Logic vs. DP -- something just occurred to me

Shooshie wrote: "I noticed that someone while ago was afraid that adding a bunch of tracks from Polar would up his CPU hit." It looks like you might be referring to my posts on Polar. I think you've got the virtual instruments vs tracks issue sorted out and I don't think I should try to ge...

Re: This must be easy... (recording multiple passes)

Hi, Maybe I wasn't clear, I'm talking about printing polar passes, not printing or freezing virtual instruments. I'm not a former Logic user and appreciate having the MIDI tracks and instrument tracks separate. I also have appreciated the freeze feature which allows me to treat virtual instruments a...

Re: This must be easy... (recording multiple passes)

Thanks, I do end up printing the passes, but it would be great to be able to lessen the number that I have to print, since I often print the polar session into a project that already has multiple virtual instruments which take up processing power. Also, maybe there's a way around this, but when prin...

Re: This must be easy... (recording multiple passes)

I'm not sure Polar would be used for what the original poster was trying for, but while going off on Polar: Yes the extra bars suggestion is a great tip, as is the longer release time. I actually do change the threshold often depending on my recording conditions or desired results. Just got DP7 and ...

Re: This must be easy... (recording multiple passes)

I'm replying to an old post here, since I'm searching to see if Polar was updated from version 5.13 to 7.12. But if using Polar, a new take is created each pass, but they are layered on top of each other. You have multiple export options, and can set it up so you can separate each take later, or com...

16 and 24 bit

What about the fact that DP5 allows reading of 16 and 24 bit audio files and probably converts in some manner that might dither the audio in an unflattering way?

merge worked for static

I've tried highlighting all files and using the merge command as cbergm7210 tried and this removed the static for me. I'm wondering if it might have something to do with conversions. Since when changing the bite gain on a soundbite, the merge command resets the soundbite gain to zero, i'm thinking t...

one more here! crackle has nothing to do with firewire, buffer settings, studio settings and it comes and goes irregularly. sometimes with only 2 audio tracks playing simultaneously, and it infected the bounced track too. didn't notice it on powerbook g4 but am experiencing it on Macbook Pro 2.6GHz ...
