Re: Horrible font display in DP8 on Windows 8
Unfortunately, DP's GUI is simply custom graphics with text boxes inserted, and it seems likely it was developed and tweaked on OSX, then ported to PC. Hence, graphics and text likely aren't optimized for Windows' text/graphics engine). Windows graphics is better in 8/10, but OSX still has a small a...

Re: Building a computer for DP
You do not need a gaming monitor and video card for DP. You do need more than a 700 series NVidia or comparable card to run video in DP. I ran into problems playing any video file on an older PC with a 700 series card and talked to MOTU about it. They recommended a higher end card, aka, closer to g...

Re: Building a computer for DP
For me who is a novice on PC it seems that it takes a lot of knowledge in order to get gear that'll work for music purposes. Are there lots of PC configs that'll work or are there just a couple of standard setups that everyone choose between? Could I use my Mac Pro 2006 Case? It doesn't take a lot ...

Re: Building a computer for DP
I have a couple of questions on this as I'm beginning to look at PC's. Is Win 7 supposed to be officially supported until 2020? Also, is it true that Win 10 does forced updates, and if so, how risky is that to maintaining a stable DAW workstation? Win 7 is supported through 2020 at the general leve...

Re: Building a computer for DP
Since that computer is similar, Any lessons learned with that systems specs? 64G worth it? Running DP in that one machine with moderately large templates, VEP and Kontakt? For me it is. I have yet to fully load the 64G as I have slave systems offloading a bulk of my sample libraries. I am running a...

Re: Building a computer for DP
Honestly, I would be hesitant to stick with Windows 7. My DP9 system is similar to your build here though a model older i7, 64G, Asus X99 board, multiple SSDs; running Windows 8.1 and DP 9.12. No problems with the OS side. I also have DP running on a Win10 Surface and it seems fine there (other than...

Re: DP 9, MOTU plug-ins, settings values invisible?
I will post it later today.
But if you ever need to, it's under Support - Contact Technical Support Online (bottom of the Support page). You have to log into your MOTU account (from registering DP), and then you can post tech links from there.

Re: DP 9, MOTU plug-ins, settings values invisible?
Well, I just tested this on a Win10 system (not used for DP regularly - just infrequent testing like this), and I see the same problem - values are white against a white background in DP plugins - tested Chorus and Delay. This is only an issue with DP plugins here - 3rd party VSTs are fine. And it i...

Re: DP 9, MOTU plug-ins, settings values invisible?
Try removing DP preferences and restarting DP. You may also need to reboot your PC. DP has some odd graphics issues that can crop up after using other applications (especially video playback in a browser), that can only be cleared with a reboot. Prefs on Win8/10 should be in: c:/users/(username)/App...

Re: Cubase feature "play from last start" DP equivalent?
Search the Commands for "Set Memory Start to Counter" or just "memory". I assigned F1 to this (since DP isn't locked to having F1 calling up "help") and use it to set my playback-return point. Use Memory cycle, repeat, link to selection, etc to develop whatever workflow...

Re: Metering Recommendations?
The Brainworx RMS metering will give you the best results of the two if loudness is an issue - it is at least easier to see more level detail. Loudness metering uses frequency weighting so you get comparative loudness rather than simply signal power (RMS). Loudness from the listed plugins is going t...

Re: Metering Recommendations?
Rick - watching loudness is going to be more effective than the PSP or Brainworx limiter. Ditto to mshschmeider's recommendations: http://www.tcelectronic.com/lm1n/ or the Nugen: http://www.nugenaudio.com/vislm-loudness-meter-plugin-standalone-application-aax-au-vst_11 Izotope's Insight is great too...

Re: DP 9.1 for Windows is here also
I'm on 9.1 now and have been for the past week or so in various projects - no significant problems. Some issues I had with 9.02 seem to be fixed either intentionally or by virtue of another revision in 9.1. OMF/AAF is still broken, but that isn't news, nor was a fix planned that I know of. So far so...

Re: DP 9.1 sweet but OMFs still a problem
I have been talking with MOTU about this. AAF and OMF are completely broken in DP 9.1. The same AAF/OMF files open fine in Nuendo 7. Support is passing this onto development. I made it clear that this is a serious problem for DP. It makes collaborating with users of other DAWs very difficult, whethe...

Re: Start at beat 1 in middle of measure?
Actually, in Ableton Live, when inserting a meter change anywhere in the middle of a measure, it automatically starts on beat 1 of the next full measure right at the meter change. This leaves you with a partial measure just before your meter change. Maybe Live is unique when it comes to that, but t...
