Re: Free East West Play with DP 7.02/ 10.4.11
I've had enormous problems since upgrading to Play when it came out, and indeed I have not yet found out why it crashes DP. I upgrade to the latest version of everything. In the end I switched to Logic (after 30 years with MotU, so you can imagine I was not pleased to have to learn a whole new syste...

Memory allocation problem with DP
I have had serious problems with DP crashing ever since I upgraded to DP6.02. My previous version, DP5.12, was rock-solid. At the same time, I upgraded my EastWest VI plugs to Play, so it was unclear whether PLAY was causing the problems. I now believe the problem I am experiencing has nothing to do...

Re: Problems with EastWest PLAY
After several weeks and several hundred dollars in upgrading software and hardware, I think I am finally coming to the conclusion that PLAY is not the problem. Indeed, now the problem seems to occur with any VI that I call up in a file that already has at least three or four other VI, and it appears...

Re: Problems with EastWest PLAY
In my case I am running DP 6.02 on a Mac Pro with 15 gigs of RAM and only using one or two PLAY tracks, tops. However, in trying to find whether PLAY is or is not the culprit, I have been doing a methodical testing of all my VI plug-ins, and it turns out that Spectrasonics' new Omnisphere also cause...

Re: Problems with EastWest PLAY
Hi Frodo Thanks for the tip about reducing DP's buffer size, which so far seems to be helping, I think. Too early to tell, since DP is still crashing occasionally now, but I still need to test all the different elements one by one. There are so many variables that have gone ballistic in my system si...

Re: How can I bring up a vocal during mastering?
Normally I would give you the standard reply of not tweaking up the vocals but rather tweaking down everything else in the mix that is in the vocal range. Having said that, I just bought the Waves Maserati collection, and I have to say it really does an incredible job putting the vocals up front wit...

Re: Songs too fast after upgrade
No worries. I really appreciate the quick response! Here's where things stand. This started out being an issue of PLAY crashing DP, so I upgraded to Leopard. Then the upgrade to Leopard somehow affected the word clock. I found the glitch in the word clock, which turned out to be the Tascam D-24 mixe...

Re: Problems with EastWest PLAY
Thanks for all your posts. I have upgraded to Leopard and doubled my RAM and just bought Logic Express in order to see whether PLAY is more stable with a different host. I have no experience with rewire, although that may be a solution until EASTWEST and/or MotU resolve whatever is causing the probl...

Re: Songs too fast after upgrade
Hi James, I live in Europe so there is a time difference -- I was sleeping when the previous posts were being filed. It's now morning here, so this is the first I can reply with a follow up. (And believe me, I really appreciate the help! So I hope no one thinks I was being rude.) To answer the quest...

Songs too fast after upgrade
I just upgraded to Leopard OX 10.5 and when I opened up a song I was working on in Digital Performer 6.02 the song is now much faster. There is clearly a problem with the word clock sync. I am using a Tascam D24, a Focusrite ISA430 and an RME Fireface 400. I haven't changed anything other than Leopa...

Problems with EastWest PLAY
Ever since I started using Play with DP 6 on an Intel Mac, I get non-stop crashes. I upgraded to DP 6 at the same time that EastWest sent me their PLAY upgrades for Intel Macs, so I don't know if the problem is with DP or EW Play. I'm using a Mac Pro with 8GB RAM and Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11. Upgradin...

Re: Which is your favorite Mic for vocals?
My favorite vocal mic that I own is a Neumann U-87, which I run through a Focus Rite pre. The nicest sounding vocal mike I ever had the pleasure of using was an old U-67 going through an old Neumann tube pre. That set-up had real warmth and a very bright but smooth top. Hard to find these days, alas.

Need Urgent Help with DP6
I just upgraded to DP6 and OSX4.11. I never, ever had any problems with DP5.12, but DP6 now quits every five minutes or so. I am using only one VI, EWQL Symphonic Orchestra Platinum Plus, but at the 16bit level, and I have a Mac Pro dual core 2.8Ghz with 8 gigs of RAM. I am running about 10 tracks (...

Hi I've just upgraded my Waves Gold after a very, very long time, and while I have to say that the Waves site is pretty confusing, especially if it's to update a product that you bought originally in the pre-Internet days, I have to give high marks to the Waves Support Team for answering my emails q...

Help with previewing plug-ins
Hi I've recently upgraded to DP 5.12 after many, many years outside the music business. Last time I had DP, audio plug-ins worked in real time. Now I see that DP generates a completely new audio-file in the background. My plugs have a 'preview' button, but it remains grayed out. My only option is 'A...
