Problem with MIDI Express 128 and Finale
Windows 7. Just setting up a new computer, and can't get MOTU MIDI Express 128 to work with Finale. It seems to work fine with DP8 and Sonar X3. Here's the scene: Installed latest driver for 128. Tested with Sonar and DP. Fine. Went into Finale to tweak the MIDI Setup. The computer immediately froze...

Re: Movie Slows Down DP8
Sorry, Bayswater. Pretty much abandoned DP8, but here's some info on your question "for the record": From Sweetwater tech... Cannot load MOV files in Sonar X1. Article #33585 Below is a link to a Codec Pack that many of our users have used to successfully import videos into SONAR: http://w...

Re: DP8 Windows with Mackie Control
Pretty much abandoned DP8 except for some simple recording. It's too slow for the film scoring I do, but will see how it works when new computer arrives. As to Stripes' answer that you can't map MCU, of course you can. Sonar control surface menu allows you to map any of the sliders or buttons to do ...

Re: Movie Slows Down DP8
Not sure why MOTU tech guys are not suggesting avi for us Windows users. Here's a link to composer Chad Leiter's PC DP8 system:

Re: Movie Slows Down DP8
Thanks, B. Yes, avi always ran best in Sonar, and that's the film format I used in Sonar for this project, which is a series of small interviews. I just abandoned DP8 for the project, but then kept thinking there had to be a solution other than "MOTU just hasn't figured it out." Good quest...

Bayswater, did you mean to include a reply or was that repost a slip of the hand?

Re: Movie Slows Down DP8
OK. Although 2 different MOTU tech support guys suggested 2 entirely different codecs, I tried avi on a whim, and it seems to run great. Can't explain it, but there ya go!

Optimum system for DP8 on Windows
Assuming that MOTU extensively tested DP8 before they released it on Windows (yeah, I know...) can anyone find out exactly what computer config they used and what hardware, as well as any plugins tested. I'm about to get a new system and figure, well, if it worked for them, I should be able to get i...

hmmmm....Did thusly, and RG DOES come up, but says "guitars not found." Were the samples in RG2 that I deleted? Don't see them on the disk.

Re: is DP on windows reliable ?
It's "solid", in that it doesn't shut down randomly. I AM having some problems that MOTU said are bugs, primarily in using Video. MOTU Tech said to install the video in the same HD as the DP8 program, but I still get big slowdown for almost every function. Since about a third of my work is...

Re: Movie Slows Down DP8
yeh, James. Like we say in the studio, "I love what you're trying to do, MOTU." So I'll just keep doing what I can do on it, pray for the next release, and do my movie work in Sonar.

Re: Movie Slows Down DP8
Thanks for the replies, M Nation. Just don't understand why the video file runs smoothly on Sonar X2 using exactly the same system and latency.

Re: Movie Slows Down DP8
Yeah, I don't think it should, since X2 is running on the same computer with the same video file.
