Re: Please help troubleshoot g5, pci expert needed

I suspect it is the PRAM battery and/or the video card. I had a similar thing happen with my G5 last week. I don't have MOTU PCI hardware, but I could tell my G5 was fully booted (because I could hear the CPU chirp and could shut the system down by using shortcut keys), but the display was be blank....

Keymap is such a nice sample instrument editor that it has made me take a closer look at EXS24. So, I've been playing around with Logic and MainStage for hosting EXS24.

Shooshie, sorry I wasn't clear. I was talking about being able host multiple instruments in MainStage and address them individually. By creating keyboards, you can map a MIDI In port to an individual Channel Strip. You still need to use IAC, SoundFlower, etc. to actually pass the MIDI & Audio da...

Yeah, I'm sure Soundflower or Jacktools will do the trick, but what a glaring blind spot in Apple's thinking, not to have included ports! Shooshie, By going to the Layout page and adding Keyboards, you can configure multiple devices and ports. When you go back to the Edit page, you click on a Chann...

MachFive2 did read all my old Roland CDROMs almost perfectly... I was waiting this for years ! Did you compare the patches to how they sound on an S-series sampler? When importing Roland S-series samples with MachFive v1, the attacks, decays, and tuning were off so the resulting patches didn't soun...

Hello Peter,

It sounds like you are making good progress. In order for the Motif to play more than one sound at a time put it in Song mode by pressing the "Song" button on the Motif. Then you should be able to select different patches for each track.

Peter, Yes, that is correct. In AMS setup, add a new device and double-click on it to open the device properties. In the configuration dialog, select Yamaha as the manufacturer and select the appropriate model that matches your keyboard . Then connect the device's ins/outs to port 1 of the big Yamah...

Peter,

Make sure the MOES is powered on. Then in Audio MIDI Setup, connect the MOES device in & out to the MOES interface port 1.

Patches should then show up in DP after selecting the MOES device (not the interface port 1) as your MIDI output for a track.

Peter,

Did you add a MoES device in Audio MIDI Setup and connect it to Port 1 of the MOTIF driver?

monkey man, You may simply be able to go into AMS and delete the interface without having to edit the XML file. By editing the XML file, I was able to remove the "destinations" entries for ports 2-8 so they no longer show up in AMS & in DP. Ahh, much better without all those extra port...

I've still got extra PODxt and BassPODxt entries italicized in my MIDI assignment list. They've been hanging around for a couple of years, and I simply cannot seem to get rid of them. monkey man, you just reminded me of a possible solution. When I upgraded the firmware on my Digidesign MIDI I/O it ...

Is there a way to disable the extra ports so they don't show up in DP? In Audio MIDI Setup I added a "YAMAHA ES8" device and connected it to Port 1 of the ES8 interface. This shows up fine in DP but I also get 8 "YAMAHA MOTIF ES YAMAHA MOTIF ES Portx" (one for each port). Is ther...

How far back does this bug go? When I submitted the bug report to MOTU, I think I tried this on DP 4.6 and it also had the same issue. Has anyone tried this on DP 3? I would love to see tighter integration with Sibelius. I tried setting the note length keys for DP's step record to match the Sibelius...

Dwetmaster,

Yes, DP is a great application. I also wish they would work on some of the basic stuff. But, as you said, the other stuff may be higher priority.
