Re: DP 5.13 in Leopard on New MBP

10.5.what? Just wondering. I haven't got the install disc right now (in my boss' office and he isn't in on Wednesdays) so I haven't tested it on this machine yet.

DP 5.13 in Leopard on New MBP

So, I know I've been out of the loop for a while, but I'm wondering which version of 10.5.x and DP 5.1x play together the best? I would presume that DP 5.13 plays well with Leopard, but I don't know. If so, would DP 5.13 and 10.5.2 be better than .3 or .4? I'm asking because the last time I did upda...

Thanks, I ended up using the soundbites window trick, but it wouldn't send everything to original time stamps. I can easily move everything in where it needs to go though.

Rebuilding a Project?

Alright, so I was recording tonight and everything went fine (well, mostly everything, but let's not go there) until afterwards. When I was starting to tear down, there was a power surge (that my Furman caught) and it caused my entire setup to shutdown. Normally no big deal, but this time, I hadn't ...

There's a library that's at the outer limits of my traveling range, and it was only today that it occurred to me that they may allow me to do this there. Dunno. Haven't been into a library for an embarrassing length of time. Reading this before class I was totally going to recommend finding ...

Reocrd as AIFF

Hey all, I was wondering if there was a way to record straight to aiff format files instead of sd2 as I will be doing some live work and would love to be able to give the CDs to the bands right away. Unfortunately we are limited to the realm of DP here, otherwise I'd know how to fix it by just using...

I'd also remember that the MOTU units can be modded by BLA, which I might add, did an amazing job on the Digimax I recently picked up used. aitikin: I just picked yp the PreSonus Digimax, as well. Are you saying that Black Lion did a mod on the Digimax or one of your MOTU I/O's? I don't see anythin...

I'm anti-USB for large files period. USB is a burst speed, meaning it can send one burst up to 480Mb/s (Megabits, not bytes, and that's version 2.0) and then another and another, but it cannot keep a constant 480. If you're going to be doing any major bandwidth usage, firewire/ieee1394 (whatever you...

Pretty sure it would if you can upgrade the RAM a bit. 256 is very little for you to work with. Which version of OS X are you using? If your answer is higher than 10.3.x you definitely need to upgrade. RAM is something that OS X eats up like none other. I use a powerbook g4 with something like a 333...

LAME, LAME, LAME, LAME...Sorry, had to. LAME is your best choice for MP3, but seriousls go for FLAC or APE (http://www.monkeysaudio.com/). Both are good, APE is a little smaller, but a bit more restrictive because it's less wildly used.

All I can say is I love my Fireface 800 to death. I haven't worked with an 828 or an MH. One of my friends has a 828 mkII that he intends to BLA mod shortly. Ironically the 896HD in the studio I work in just died less than 2 weeks after the PCIe-424 card died. Neither of these units is more than a y...

Re: Mics for plucked strings

Are LDC, SDC or ribbon better? Short answer, yes. I've heard a lot of this and really, I can't say that any one thing is the "right" choice. I've used SM81's and AKG 451's, on the SDC side, 414s and KSM32s on the LDC. I don't have much experience with ribbons, but I'd be surprised if it d...

I've run into problems with a Quad Core and 2 gigs. I usually go for Crucial when shopping for RAM. I recommend using the same size dimms for all the ram, but it could just be me.
