Are you running any other external firewire devices when you are having this problem? I had a problem when I would go and shut down my 896HD, the MOTU Audio Setup wouldn't close and it would lock up my whole computer. It worked fine on my PC, but not on my Imac. I'm running an external hard drive wi...

Ok, how about this.... I've been looking through the free plug ins section of the site. Can anyone recommend a free Compressor Plug that they prefer over the standard DP version?

Gah!! It seems like I'm SOL regardless of which direction I go. I guess I'm better of saving up and buying a Mac Pro at this point. Thanks for the advise.

If I go outboard DSP via firewire, I'd need a hub. I already have my 896HD on one port and my external drive on another. I'm looking at this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817111968 from Newegg.com Anyone have any experience with any hubs (known issues or performance lags, etc...

There is no way i know of running UAD-1 plugs on an iMac. Unless there is some sort of PCI-to-Firewire expansion chassis out there. which i highly doubt exists. If you need external DSP, try something firewire, ie Duende, liquid mix, powercore. Honestly, i'd stay native if you have a new iMac. fire...

UAD Plug Ins

I'm interested in getting some UAD Plug Ins, but I have a Imac. I've noticed that most of the places selling the plug ins are also selling the PCI cards with them. Do the UAD plug ins require a PCI card or is there another way of running these plug ins on my Imac? Thanks.

Ok, this may sound dumb, but when you're playing guitar using this input, are you standing close to any television or monitor or anything of the sort the emits EMI/EMF? Maybe your pickups on the guitar are picking up some signals emitted from something in the room?

Actually Sooshie, I was looking at your design and I'd like to request one feature.... Being an old PC user, I'd like to see the "ANY" key on this new production! haha.

Love it, Sooshie. I'd hand it to him for you if I knew for sure he was taking delivery of his jet in person, but alas, I don't know that for sure. Either way, great ideas on a new design, too.

Extended Desktops

Ok, in case this isn't posted and for those who are not aware, especially pertaining to the new Intel Imacs.... when you add a monitor so you can extend your desktop, the Dynex version of the mini DVI to DVI connectors do work. They're about $3 cheaper than the Apple version. If you do use the mini ...

The way I do this is by copying and pasting the MIDI pattern as needed on one track and sending it to the instrument track with AD configured on it and bouncing both of them.

Getting closer to a solution

Hey guys, I thought I was having trouble with my 896HD when I'd go and shut it off. It was having programs hang and you couldn't even force quit from them and you had to manually restart the computer to get it cleared. Either way, I unplugged my external firewire drive today and started my 896HD, th...

Well, if anyone happens to have the the drivers for firewire versions 1.4.5 or 1.4.6, I'd greatly appreciate it. I'd like to at least test out my theory before I can really tell MOTU that everything they asked me to try will not work, because I've pretty much tried it. This is all I lack is the old ...

Just a tip for your daughter... when she gets there, the train system can help you get around pretty well. Grab a schedule and I'm sure she's smart enough to figure it out after a bit. The trains in Paris stop running by 10 PM or 12 PM, can't recall exactly, so if she's out and about, she needs to m...

The old drivers are pre-Leopard, so I haven't tried them, in fact, I think they're pre-Intel Mac. If I remember correctly, when I received my install disk for the 896HD, the Intel Macs had just came out, so you had to upgrade the drivers on the web site.
