Nice! (I haven't run it in 7.2 yet but good to know that the fix is still in effect)

Re: Suggestions for next DP update

OK when you haven't recorded every instrument to audio yet, but another slow down if you have. As V-Racks have to be recorded in real time in my set up. <--hope it's a flaw in my knowledge, but that's how it goes when I record. It's been a few years since I've seriously used bounce to disk so I act...

This is unfortunate – Looks like it may be difficult to add an SSD drive to an iMac if you don't order one initially. Apparently, Apple is not including the needed parts in iMac's that are ordered without them: http://www.macrumors.com/2010/07/28/new-27-inch-imac-disassembled-aftermarket-ssd-install...

Re: Suggestions for next DP update

Aux tracks in individual sequences within the Song will double their output. Say you have an effect on Aux 1 in a sequence, but not on another part of the Sequence later in the Song, the outputs get added together and you get a dry/wet mix of the tracks. Interesting... I'm still having trouble visu...

Re: Komplete 7!!!

It's actually a good deal after all, even for those who have many of the add-ons. It's a shame I bought K6 as I think K7 can be upgraded from any version for the same price, but I'm sure K6 as an upgrade-only package, never having been installed, has zero value on the open market, so I'll just swal...

Re: I nice thread about DP on Gearslu^z thanks to OSC and iO

I don't own 7 yet so I can't see what MOTU are saying in the help menu. :( I'm not a programmer, but Sequencers like DP use track automation as well as MIDI for controlling plug ins and track volume etc. It's why a Mackie Control can have smoother fades using the hardware than most MIDI gear, it's ...

Re: Apple announces new Mac Pros! (was "Houston...")

Another confusing thing in the iMac vs Mac Pro comparison is the processor - i7 vs Xeon. In this Mac World review from last November, they found the i7 iMac slightly faster than both Quad and 8-core Mac Pros 'at most tasks.' I don't know if those tests reflect the needs of DAWs and VIs, but they we...

Re: Any way to make a track or individual regions "safe"..

Logic does have probably the best latency compensation out of any DAW (PTHD included) when it comes to working with outboard gear. It's pretty seamless for the most part. Yes, I agree (I actually think that Ableton Live has a better external instrument plugin because it can handle Rewire inputs and...

Re: Any way to make a track or individual regions "safe"..

yeah.... there is the "CPU saving" option for muting tracks... that kind of... but doesn't really disable a track.... plus... then you're mutes don't behave like you think they would. I saw a funny argument on Gearslutz about it... the Logic user just kept saying how you could "hide&...

Re: Apple announces new Mac Pros! (was "Houston...")

I noted the new iMac has a Video IN port, allowing the iMac screen to be used as a monitor for another computer. That's kind of interesting... could an iMac be a cool VI network machine while also serving as a second monitor for the main Mac? The current iMacs also have this feature. Seems like you...

Re: Any way to make a track or individual regions "safe"..

BIG +1.... and as a side note, this was ANOTHER feature that was killing me in Logic. There's no way to truely "disable" a track. Such a simple, amazingly useful feature. Absolutely! You can't explain this kind of stuff to a lot of logic users, btw... They mostly don't get it. This is one...

Re: Any way to make a track or individual regions "safe"..

You might throw them in a folder of their own. Since they're not going to change, you just as well won't want to see them... I guess. +1 I do this. For drum edits, I also duplicate the raw edit tracks after putting them in a folder and disable these tracks. I then place the duplicated versions in a...

you could also try assigning static IP's or DHCP reservations (in Airport Utility) to the Mac and the iPhone. May help a bit.

Re: Apple announces new Mac Pros! (was "Houston...")

well then..... I guess I wasn't truely thinking of a tricked out iMac. Yeah, neither was I until I saw that comparison. That's why I posted it. It was kind of shocking to realize the following: A) That an iMac can cost so much (and still have considerable limitations) B) That the premium paid for t...

Re: Apple announces new Mac Pros! (was "Houston...")

What I'm saying is that a tricked out iMac with a large screen is an expensive machine and you don't get to keep the screen if you sell the iMac, and you can't expand. Meanwhile you have put down 75% of the cost of a Mac Pro... Not 75% of a Mac Pro with a comparible screen..... I definately agree t...
