Re: TEST: 5 DAWs 5 MBP Optical O/P You better read this :)
Thanks for the thread Radiogal, and for your resolve in getting DP into these listening tests. I can now go back to work knowing that DP has indeed performed well and that PT-10 isn't necessarily the “game changer” its poo poo’d to be on Avid's site. I agree with so many here that there are those wi...

Re: Now I'm tricked out in full MOTU style
My experience is also that putting the audio interface on the PCI bus is a better use of available resources, if for no other reason that you are not letting a data buss sit around unused. Each data buss (FW, USB, PCI, etc.) has limited capacity (and remember, no matter how many FW jacks you have, ...

Re: Now I'm tricked out in full MOTU style
I'll never forget a comment a musician made some years ago. It went something like "Man, your charging $35.00 per hour?! I know some PROTOOLS studios who charge that!!!" Like I've always said, in blind listening tests I'll put my MOTU rig up against ProTools any day of the week. It's a jok...

Re: Slate Digital VCC sale and CPU ?
I’m new to VCC and agree that the effect is quite subtle- but if I bypass it I know something is missing and want it back post haste. I've had some odd behaviors with VCC on my system. If I attempt to minimize the VCC window or send it to the dock (by pressing the yellow button on the command bar),...

Re: CueMix question mark?
Well, that's because the PCI interfaces weren't able to run FX until now. Thus ni mention in their manuals. Look for CueMix FX on youtube. However, the EQ, Compression and Reverb isn;t available for the PCI. The difference isn't that big from the old CueMix, it's mostly cosmetics and the basic idea...

CueMix question mark?
I downloaded the new PCI drivers from the MOTU site and the old cue mix console has been replaced by Cue Mix FX- cool.
However, maybe I'm just thick, but I can't find Cue Mix FX in the manual(s).
Anyone know where to look? I've got a client coming in and have to get my cue system up and running fast.

Re: What's the current state of VocAlign and DP?
I've been using Vocalign Project for years now- spanning several Mac OS's. Over the years, when I've had reason to deal with the folks at SyncroArts they've been good as gold. There was one interation of DP (5?) that had some problems with Vocalign but I found a workaround (by switching to interleav...

Re: Gating Toms??
What about manually cutting the audio out between tom hits? This is the best method I've found and use it almost exclusively. Unless the drummer is a total monster on the fills and there's just too many tom hits. For the most part, I use 'Strip Silence' to start the process. However, It always seem...

Re: OSX 10.6.8 and DP
After all the troubles I had with DP7.2.2 & 7.2.3 on Leopard, I have been stable on Snow Leopard for almost a month now. :woohoo: It required a complete reformat of my Mac HD, and a fresh install of Snow Leopard (not an upgrade from Leopard). After the fresh SL install I ran Software Update unti...

Re: 40" flat screen with Mac Pro Intel machine
This appears to work with any flat panel tv as long as it has a "full pixel" mode. I ended up with the Samsung 5550 series (about $850.00 tax included from Sam's Club). Different manufacturers use different terminology (Just Scan or Screen Fit to name a few) which amounts to the same thing...

Desktop is missing internal drive folders in Snow Leopard
Is anyone else annoyed that the hard drive folders are missing from the desk top in Snow Leopard? It used to be easy to access any of the internal hard drives by simply clicking on the folder on the desktop and opening it (especially for back ups, etc). My external HD's still appear on the desktop b...

Re: Flaming 7.23!
I loaded Snow leopard. When the Mac rebooted, one of my Samsung Syncmaster displays went black and will no longer work in DVI mode. Can't win for loosin'! Anyway... I reformatted the Mac HD again (two partitions this time) and did a fresh install of Snow Leopard (no Leopard first). After downloading...

Re: 40" flat screen with Mac Pro Intel machine
I figured it out.
Set the display to 'full pixel' and the Mac to 1080P with overscan checked. Fills the screen completely with a small enough rendering to yield a lot of net screen real estate.
