Re: Automatic audio recording nudge

Hi Dave. I appreciate your input. And I appreciate the fact that this is a difficult concept to write clearly about. I have really tried to write clearly. But it would appear, not clearly enough. I will wait for MOTU's tech response. For now, my work around is working fine by tricking DP into think...

Re: Automatic audio recording nudge

Hi Dave. It's not outside the box, as I monitor two hardware parallel drum bus comps right up until the mix is complete. Then print. My monitoring chain is always set up with a 8136 sample delay. If it ever changed, even by only 5 to 10 samples, the drums would go out of phase and sound ridiculous....

Re: Automatic audio recording nudge

I have done what you describe. Everyone does. When I did tech support for DP I found that almost nobody checked record latency. I play bass with my fingers, I just expect my tracks to be late and need fixing... That's how DAWs work. But the calculated printed latency is changing from project ...

Re: Automatic audio recording nudge

You should never have to nudge audio to make up for any sort of latency. It sounds like you are getting an offset with overdubbed audio. That doesn't get fixed via plug-in latency compensation. That get's fixed by properly calibrating your audio interface. Put a transient such as a snare drum into a...

Re: Can't believe I never tried this before

I was gigging on guitar through DP eight years ago. I used an Ultralite interface. I used Firewire until the jack wore out then I switched to USB. DP buffer set to 64. My DP session ran the VOX AC30 sim, cab sim, phaser, flanger, delay and probably a few other goodies. Also in the session I ran Mach...

Re: What is making my DP 9.52 so (swearword) slow ?

What do you suppose might be wrong with my configuration to cause it to be so unusable? That is a very good question. Obviously there are so many variables with these kinds of rigs. Posters here have different models of computers with different drive, ram, video, CPU configs, etc. How the file temp...

Re: What is making my DP 9.52 so (swearword) slow ?

The notation editor only displays one track at a time, and it doesn't do page formatting, so yes most likely that would make a difference. Exactly. Isn't it a matter of using the tools for their intended purpose? I would have thought QuickScribe was not intended primarily as a MIDI editor, but rath...

Your original graphic shows an audio track, not a MIDI track.

What specifically are you not able to do in terms of viewing or editing a MIDI track?

Re: What is making my DP 9.52 so (swearword) slow ?

Maybe the Notation editor would work instead of using Quickscribe. The only time I've had abnormally slow response with DP is with some VIs that by default, preload a very small amount of their samples. The response was due to constant disk access, and solved by maximizing the RAM available to prel...

Re: What is making my DP 9.52 so (swearword) slow ?

Transcribing? Do you have the Quickscribe or Notation editor windows open? Dave Yes, I have quickscribe open as I like to edit MIDI notes in a stave view. How many tracks are displayed in the Quickscribe window? If you use the Track Selector to hide all but the specific track you are working on, do...

Re: Can't find zoom command in Commands window

The magnifying glass icon in your screenshot is for vertical zooming of the waveform view. If you want to zoom horizontally, yes there are extensive key commands to do so. Go to the Setup menu>Commands and type Zoom into the top of the window.

Re: Motif MX49 into DP8 via USB

In DP go to the Setup menu>Open Audio MIDI Setup. AMS has two windows. Display the Audio Devices window. Any external audio devices are first seen in this window. If the Motif is not listed you probably need a driver from Yamaha. If the Motif is listed as an audio device, quit AMS. In DP go back to ...

Re: DP10 Stretch function

Dave!! Works perfectly!! Thanks a lot Dave!!!! So do I need to use 'find beat' every time when I use stretch function? Very good! There has to be "found beats" in the audio in order to use the stretch function. There's a preference to automatically look for beats in new audio. Digital Per...
