Re: Configure Hardware Driver question

Unless there is some kind of resampling going on, there can only be a single clock source. Can the Korg slave? I worked with some kind of Korg rack thing years ago that had an optical out option (but no external slave option). The Korg only worked at 48 kHz and had to be clock master. We ended up di...

Re: DP 10 Opening Older Files

There could be a problem with the old DP session file. Have you tried creating a new file in DP10 and then loading the sequences into the new file from the old?

Re: Freezing tracks and de-loading instruments from RAM

Pretty sure this is how it works: At the end of an instrument freeze track operation the instrument track is disabled (ENA button in Tracks window). As far as I can tell, disabling an instrument track unloads all the samples from any sample based instrument. I just checked this in Activity monitor. ...

Re: Dp10 randomly crashing using cue next chunk

Yo Viggie! When you switch chunks in DP everything in the first chunk has to be disengaged and then everything in the next chunk has to be engaged. If crashing when changing chunks my speculation is that either the from chunk or the to chunk has some sort of problem initializing/deinitializing. You ...

Re: Struggling with selections and just plain moving around.

I'm going back and forth between Premiere and DP. I haven't seen any way to change key bindings in Premiere so I'm slowly changing the DP commands to match Premiere. I've assigned the A key to Grow Selection to End. It doesn't quite work the way Premier does. In Premiere if you hold the A key and cl...

Holy Cow! I can't believe I didn't know about this one.

Grow Selection to End is exactly what I needed. You guys have just saved me a ton of time and work.

Just goes to show, you can call yourself a power user and still learn new tricks.

Thanks!

Re: Struggling with selections and just plain moving around.

All good suggestions, thanks! I feel part of the issue is the documentation. It's not bad, per we, but it focuses too much on the wrong things. The getting started guide doesn't discuss keyboard (or mouse) shortcuts nearly enough, and I feel they might be critical to getting the most out of DP. I a...

Re: Struggling with selections and just plain moving around.

FWIW, I came from Studio Vision Pro and truly hated Performer (that was pre-DP name for the app). You have my retroactive sympathy. MOTU and Opcode were the original arch rivals of the MIDI sequencer world. Opcode made a deal with the devil (Microsoft) to port OMS to Windows. That never happened an...

Re: Enough is enough.

I'm one of those people that make a living with DP. Stable as a rock here. When I worked at MOTU I never met a problem that couldn't be solved or worked around. There is no such thing as a "random crash". I really wanted to help Jim and offered to work with him off-line. I understand that ...

Re: what is abv

thanks! that helps. if a person was using, say, two converters connected by ABV, do they do the usual master/slave clocking, or does word clock get transferred via the ABV, or does one of them freewheel, at less than 2ms? Sample to sample sync across the entire ABV network. One clock source in the ...

Re: High CPU Usage when commencing recording

I told the doctor that if I tried to record 128 simultaneous tracks at 96 kHz with ProVerbs running live on each track, DP sometimes crashed. The doctor told me to stop trying to do that. Either something is broken or you have reached the limit of what your configuration can do. You can test to find...

Re: No sound!

With the selection highlighted, press the option key and space bar and hold them down. Be sure the audible (speaker) icon is active in the control panel. Same is true for MIDI and combinations of any selected data. Oooops, to me with this combination Siri ask me if I need some information  A...

Re: how long to bounce to disk

It's easy enough to test to see if plug-ins have anything to do with the slow bounce. In the bottom left corner of the Mixer, click on Mix Mode Off and choose New Mix. The new mix has no plug-ins instantiated (and you can go back to Mix Mode Off to get your plugs back). Any change in bounce speed wi...

As far as I know the Unisyn manual was never available in pdf format. You could contact MOTU and ask them if they have any hard copies left.
