It's a hack but you can use the MIDI transpose plug-in to send a range of notes to a note that is out of range of the receiving instrument. This will allow you to create "splits" in DP.
When I was gigging with DP I used MachFive 3 and created the splits within the instrument.

Re: Getting Some Unity Gain w/ 828x
The 828 has very hot outputs. I forget the exact spec but I think around 22 dB possibly? Dave Wow that seems crazy! For reference on everything I'm talking about my connections are all 1/4", stereo pairs at what I expected to be line level. I mentioned earlier how it had been a year since I'd ...

Re: Getting Some Unity Gain w/ 828x
Right now I'm just plugging it all into a mixer setup I have here at home. What's weird is that I have to pad the krome -24/25db in order to get the same general output level I get when I simply plug the krome directly into the same input channel pair. It's surprising that I'm getting such gain sim...

Re: Getting Some Unity Gain w/ 828x
I don't know the spec for the Krome but I expect it's maximum output is no where near as hot as the maximum output of the 828. What are you plugging the outs of the 828 into? If you'r plugging it into a keyboard amp, then yes it wouldn't surprise me if full scale output from the 828 overloads the in...

Re: MAS folder empty -- plugins a mess (iTunes update culpri
Are you sure you're looking in the right place? There are two Library folders. One is hidden and is in the user account. You typically get there by holding the Option key and choosing Library from the Go menu. That's not where DP installs and looks for plug-ins. DP looks for plug-ins in the general ...

Re: Track Delay
Ah, you want track delay for a MIDI track. Yes, the Time Shift plug works for MIDI.

To be clear: I do not work for MOTU and do not represent them in any way. But I do have many years experience in the music software development business. When I started with computers I thought they were an absolute platform. I said to a programmer "I like computers because they are a controlla...

Well there you go. I'll say it again, engineering is about creative problem solving.labman wrote: For our contracts, and for the tons of cues we have to put out fast with huge track counts, we absolutely live and die by snapshots. Love them!!! Power city.

Re: DP 9 and 10 Cannot read heavy automation well, Proven!
Argh! Had a reply typed out and then dumped it. Try again. First, I am not here to tell people what to like or how to work. I am here to point out that what is a showstopper for one user may not be any kind of a problem for another. I also think it's totally legit to ask MOTU for changes or new feat...

Re: DP 9 and 10 Cannot read heavy automation well, Proven!
I guess complaining in a public forum about a commercial product may put pressure on a company to change the product. So go for it. If you want help from forum members that's always an option. My definition of engineering is "creative problem solving". If I record a vocalist without a pop ...

Re: F#2 key not working
Most likely MIDI Remote Control is enabled.
Go to the Setup menu>Commands. The first listed command is "Master Master". Uncheck this command. Does that fix it?

Re: Instrument track on DP
This is an old question. DP is the descendent of Performer, which was the original MIDI sequencer on Mac (Opcode guys can debate that). Way back when, MIDI was sent out of the computer to external hardware modules. In the very early days, a lot of MIDI modules were single channel devices. The Korg M...

Re: DP slow ... should I upgrade computer first?
The difference between Thunderbolt and PCI in terms of latency and CPU-based monitoring is slight. A few ms. The real difference is the basic choice of monitoring through the CPU or through hardware. No matter how powerful the computer, lowering the buffer to have acceptable CPU based monitoring is ...

Re: Configure Hardware Driver question
Really great feedback thanks. I will check out to see if there's a way to disable any transmit clock from the Kronos and yess I thought of just going analog but I only have right now an Apollo Twin so I really don't have that option but might need to look into some kind of solution for that. The Kr...
