Ya know, I bagged this idea and will use the 896 with another smaller system I have elsewhere.
I bought an Intel iMac. Thinking it will be supported for a number of years, and am doubtful about software companies writing viable programs for the M.

8pre-es not showing in Pro Audio Control
Hi all, Attempting to get my new 8PRE-ES to show up in Pro Audio Control on my iMac, running Catalina 10.15.7, using Chrome, to no avail. Have tried USB to USB, and USB to TB3. Don't have a cable for Ethernet nor TB/TB. 8PreES does not show up in the Pro Audio application. Also, the USB cable provid...

VESA-compatible mount for articulating arm
Can I remove the stand from my 2020 iMac and replace it with a VESA mount converter, so I can mount my monitor on an articulating arm? I think some year-model iMacs can have this done post-purchase, and some have to be ordered this way, but I don't know about the 2020 iMacs.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: MOTU 896 Firewire to iMac Thunderbolt 3
Hi Mike!
So, it goes FW 400 to 800, and the 800 end goes into the TB port?

MOTU 896 Firewire to iMac Thunderbolt 3
Hi all, Recently bought a new iMac, which I am enjoying very much. I am going to continue using my old 896 interface for the time-being, but the output on it is FW400, and it needs to go to TB3 for the Mac input. I understand that I can buy a FW400 to TB2 adaptor, and then buy a TB2 to TB3 adaptor t...

Re: SSDs & iMac
Hi Mike, Based on your recommendation I’m going to go for the 4TB Envoy Pro from OWC. I do have a couple of questions: --I saw that you like to do your DP recording on your boot drive. I bought my iMac with the 512 SSD option, because I’m trying to go lean and keep it stripped down for music only wo...

Re: SSDs & iMac
I did a small bit of research on hubs, and still don't understand what they are. The iMac I bought has two "superfast Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports!!" So sez the sales pitch anyway. Any light you can shred is always appreciated. (I see on your FB page that you are quite a singer, and perhaps...

SSDs & iMac
A couple of questions for the hive mind... I just bought a 2020 iMac (Intel) and will need some external SSDs for it. I have about 3-4 TBs of data to store, VIs, sample collections and the like. So.... --Is there a performance (speed) difference, one way or the other, between a 4TB and two 2TBs? --I...

pan knobs disappeared!
Hi all! Something I've never seen before. While working in the mixing board window, several of my pan pots have disappeared, along with the small input window below them. These are mono tracks, but all the rest of the mono tracks have their knobs intact. I reloaded a previous sequence ("chunk&q...

Re: Recorded tracks render at wrong timeline position
I've had a similar problem lately (or maybe the same one) when duplicating tracks. The duplicated track's soundbites are off by a significant amount. Don't know if it's two measures or not....I don't think I've used countdown in many years.
Thanks,
