Re: Advanced Routing Shenanigans, Mute Toggles, and A/B/Cing things.

Thanks, Chandrasekar, I'll look into multiple masters - that concept has never really made sense to me outside of routing them to different hardware outputs, but maybe there's a way I can use that here. In the meantime, I've got two working solutions. The first is a workaround that Matt LaPoint show...

Re: Musik Hack Master Plan

What kind of DRM does this plug use, Steve? I couldn't find anything definitive on their website. Based on some of the functionality they describe, I suspect it's a persistent online connection (which would rule it out for me), but if there's an offline install option, I'd be interested in it.

Advanced Routing Shenanigans, Mute Toggles, and A/B/Cing things.

Greetings and Happy New Year! I'm working on my 2025 template and have run into where the sidewalk ends on my routing-fu. If what I want to do is possible (and I suspect it may not be), it may also involve some arcane track group, multiple master, or console knowledge. What I Want to Do I would like...

Re: MOTU MIDI TimePiece AV USB and macOS Monterey

Sorry to resurrect the thread, but I'd like to provide another positive data point for the drivers recommended by Mike Halloran and and Michael Canavan on page one of this thread. My Setup: Mac Studio M1 Ultra, Ventura 13.6.4 Two MTP-AV USBs, with two serial MTP-AVs hanging off of those for a total ...

Re: Digital Performer 11.03 has dropped today!

I was hopeful given the "Disabled Metal on 10.13" note that it would also help on 10.14, but performance with a video assigned is still abysmal / borderline unusable on my Mac Pro 5,1 with an AMD RX580 card. This is on a brand new, fresh-install 10.14 system drive where the only thing inst...

Re: DP's way of handling Instrument tracks and MIDI

I'm almost finished with my DP translations of the Spitfire BBCSO template and, yes, having these split can make the number of tracks look overwhelming. As others have said, I wouldn't mind the ability to collapse a MIDI/Instrument track pairing down to a single thing, or a new "VI" track ...

Re: MOTU DP Problems

I don't remember if I've ever tried the specific link you posted, but another difference I experienced (as recently as yesterday) is that the installers I've downloaded from some third party site sometimes give you one of two errors. If installing using a Mac booted into the same or a later than th...

Re: MOTU DP Problems

Hi Releaux, and thanks again. The tech support guy seemed in a hurry to move along, and I’ve learned not to argue in that circumstance. I think you are spot on - his completion percentage was of primary import. I was enjoying the kool-aid, but suppose I’ll have to seriously consider a re-install. I...

Re: MOTU DP Problems

Hello Releaux, and thank you for your reply; I greatly appreciate your time. Starting with the DP preference files is where I plan to start using your method. If that doesn’t work, then I’ll look at the rebuild. I usually run only DP when working, although I also have V-Control Pro open. The 1248 u...

Re: 24 i/o PCIe 424 issues

I own three 24I/Os and had this happen a few times. Occasionally, doing the "reset" trick (unplug it from everything (including power!), rapidly change the 110/220 selector switch on the side several times, then reconnect it) would bring it back to life and it would sync. But if that didn'...

Re: MOTU DP Problems

I don't know that I've ever done a full OS install to a freshly formatted hard drive. I did recently run a full diagnostic with Tech Tool Pro, which found no problems. The computer seems to work fine other than a few problems with the mouse and track pad and video playback, but nothing like these i...

Re: MOTU DP Problems

Hi Fafner, For specific recommendations, you'll probably want to provide some additional information: Computer model, Amount of RAM OS Version DP Version Audio IO hardware. The randomness and severity of your problems, however, immediately point me toward a couple of things, and you probably won't l...

Re: How is Mojave working for you?

Most of the reports I've read have been very-positive. The only thing holding me back is the need, should I choose to live without the startup screen and Option-boot functionality (I love it), for a graphics-card update, and I'm too much of a luddite to know quite what my requirements are. Slightly...

Re: Recommendations on Metal-capable graphics. car

I just picked up a new Sapphire Radeon Pulse RX 580 8GB for $240 on Amazon. That was the card that kept popping up in nearly all of the "recommended" lists I found on upgrading a 5,1 Mac Pro, and I didn't need CUDA for anything.

Re: THANK YOU, "MAGIC DAVE" ROBERTS!!!!!

After years positive interactions with Magic Dave, I was finally able to meet him in person at the Sweetwater Gearfest this past year. He gave me a couple of cool tips on the comp function in Digital Performer and then talked me into two 24Ais.

Dave, best wishes on the next chapter!
