I have (2) MOTU 2408's. They're connected to the PCIe card in my 2008 Mac Pro.

If I didn't want to spend the $2,700+ on a new interface (Orion 32+), could I get an external PCIe chassis and connect that via TB3 or USB to my M1 Mac Mini?

I don't necessarily need pre's as I have enough outboard preamps.
