When I open a project in DP 5.13 none of the audio unit plugins are available. I select them on an insert and the plugin window comes up with the name of the plug in but no parameters are shown. Running dp5.12 on DP2.5GHz/RAM4.5GB/OSX10.4.11 here and working smoothly.

Did you try to get and install latest version?
I had problem but when I upgraded to latest version of Ultralite driver,
that was gone and working very smooth now.
