I'm going by what is said on the Apple website. If you click on the Mac tab and then on the MacBook Pro tab and then the tech specs tab it says that the 2.4 Core 2 Duo models have a 3 mb cache and the 2.5 and 2.6 Core 2 Duo models have a 6 mb cache. I'm just trying to find out if the larger L2 cache...

I'm wondering if there is any noticeable speed difference between the MBP 2.4 gig with 3 mb L2 cache and the MBP 2.5 or 2.6 with the 6 mb L2 cache. In other words, I presently have the MBP 2.4 and would like to know if I would gain much in the way of increased power using DP 6 with the higher L2 cac...

There is another consideration. For about 4 or 5 months (roughly Nov. 2007 to Feb or Mar 2008) MacBook Pro's did not have a TI firewire chipset in them; instead they had (I think) a Ricoh chipset. I just bought an Apple Certified Refurb MacBook 2.2GHz that I intend to put 4 gigs of ram into and to replace the HD with a 7200 rpm one. I hope to use my Firebox with an external HD for sample streaming and a powered USB hub for my mouse, dongles, etc. My question is, is this machine strong enough ...
