Re: Mountain Lion wipes out DP authorizations
Taka: that's pretty helpful information, but it's hard to map it to DP. I'm not sure if a user would have to make a /Digital Performer or a /MOTU directory for the program to install to. To break it down for you/any other interested parties, it's basically saying to make a directory for the company ...

Re: Mackie Control v1 and DP7: MIDI communication issues
Interesting! I use a MOTU FastLane USB to handle the MIDI connection. I had been thinking about upgrading for two reasons: 1: This version of the MCU isn't able to control ProTools (I know: but I need the compatibility) without the upgrade kit, which doesn't seem to be available anymore. 2: Trying t...

Re: Mackie Control v1 and DP7: MIDI communication issues
mjc: Thanks! After getting your answer, and looking at the Mackie download again, I set up my installation of DP on a new machine. It works flawlessly. I didn't even need to install the Mackie firmware update. One thing I did run into, however: On each old project that I open, I have to go to each A...

Mackie Control v1 and DP7: MIDI communication issues
Search didn't seem to turn this up, so: Does anyone know of any conflicts using a Mackie Control w/v1.1 software and DP7 (on Mac OS X 10.7)? The Mackie is connected via a FastLane USB MIDI connector. I'm getting the issue where MIDI/fader information is sent to the Mackie, but I can't send informati...

Re: Install DP, ProTools: same machine, but diff. Users? (OS
@Stephan — Yeah, that's awesome. PT9 is an upgrade that I'm planning to make soon so I can be free from that requirement. I chalk it up as my own fault for not following any PT9 rumors prior to its unveiling. @amplidood — Thanks for the insight. Now I understand more of the impulse behind running as...

Re: Install DP, ProTools: same machine, but diff. Users? (OS
Wow, I'm way overdue to respond. bayswater, Gabe S, thank you for your insightful responses. They helped tremendously. I did end up installing PT under the same user account. Besides feeling like a more sane way to manage updates, authorization, and other issues, I have had no problems so far. @bays...

Install DP, ProTools: same machine, but diff. Users? (OS X)
I'm not a new user, but I've been on a recording/editing hiatus. During this hiatus, I got rid of my "audio only" computer, and am starting with a new DP install on my general development/everything else computer. One piece of advice I'd heard in the past was to install any/all DAW as its ...
