I tried every LAME installer including the one mentioned at ktunes. None worked. I made sure it was installed in the proper library file, too. I downloaded the LAME to iTunes converter, but - in the end - I just loaded it as a AIFF file into iTunes and converted it to MP3 in iTunes. But thanks for t...

L.A.M.E. living up to its N.A.M.E.
Hi, I'm trying to burn an MP3 CD, and when I choose that as an option, it tells me to get LAME. This I've done, downloading vs. 3.97 and installing it about 6 times tonight and it keeps telling me to get LAME. DP help said another way I could do it was make it into a quicktime movie, based on the so...

Hi, I wanted to get back to you. Was able to find the DLS instruments. and was able to make some tracks that had Analog 1-2 outs. Then used the 'freeze' command. Then I listened to the frozen section, and something weird happened - really bad sound deterioration. Probably something else in my system...

Hi - Thanks for trying. But I am still where I was before I posted, with the possible exception of introducing some new terms that could cause me to spend a couple hours looking through the DP manual for something that I may or may not be able to find. MIDI Life Crisis - Which version of DP? Have yo...

Can't figure out how to use MIDI instruments in burning a CD
Hi, I just can't figure out how to use MIDI instruments in burning a CD. If anyone knows the answer, in explaining things to me, assume I know nothing. I don't remember having to do anything special in previous versions of DP, but it's been years since I've recorded and I'm just getting in the swing...

Did you try to set up the aggregate device in the Audio MIDI Setup or within DP? Motu online help tells you to use Audio MIDI Setup - Tried it a few times - useless! I never had much luck with aggregate devices. You can set up multiple devices within DP in the Configure Hardware Driver box. Select ...

How do you setup Pod XT & Vetta to record in DP 5.12?
I did come for help. Searching the term PodXT lead me to the Gen. Recording forum, but perhaps the DP forum would be more fruitful. In a nutshell, I'm just trying to find out how to "see" the USB POD XT as a viable input. When I tried to use aggregate instruments it was a total failure. Yo...

How do you setup Pod XT & Vetta to record in DP 5.12?
Tried the aggravating instrument - Sorry 'aggregate'. Interesting how it isn't mentioned in the DP 5 manual - or at least couldn't be found. The manual at 1,000 + pages desperately needs a decent index, or, better, a PDF version (but MOTU's paranoia prevents this from happening) Anyway created an ag...

To use the 828 and Line6 simultaneously, you'll have to set up Aggregate Devices (I think that's what it's called) in you OS. I would leave the USB for editing and jack the Line6 device into your MOTU interface if I were you, because latency is going to go up as you multiply your I/O devices. Never...

How do you setup Pod XT & Vetta to record in DP 5.12?
Hi, I've been trying to figure out how to record directly from a Pod XT through USB into DP 5.12. I've downloaded every free driver and free program Line6 has. I can 'see' the Pod as an "output" in DP (lot of good that does). I'm using OS X 10.4.10 2.16 GHz Core 2 duo iMac w/ 2 gig RAM. MO...

FW 800 HD recommendations?
Hi, Other places in the forum a 10,000 RPM drive is recommended. The manual for MachFive 2 recommends, "...must be a fast hard drive". I'm only reluctant about buying another Maxtor, but will consider it, but all the drives users have mentioned in this post are 7,200 RPM. I don't think I c...

FW 800 HD recommendations?
Hi,
Can anyone suggest a good FW 800 external drive for MachFive 2? I've had a couple Maxtor FW 400 drives go bad on me in the last couple years.
Is the 10 K RPM necessary, or will a 7,200 work?
Thanks,
Buzz

How to clean/remaster & import long (old crackly) MP3 au
Hi, I have run into a bunch of old sermons that were transfered from the original tape (in one case an Edison wax cylinder). Many were very poorly transfered and need help. There is on some a very annoying artifact that is like a winding sound or squealing I'd like to identify and remove. I can't ev...
