I must be doing something wrong
I'm running my guitar's preamp into the SP/DIF in on my 828mk3. Mix1, every input except SP/DIF is muted, output assigned to Main Outs. But the master volume doesn't control the Main Outs - huh? I can control the volume with the Mix1's main slider but not with the Master Volume. Any idea what's goin...

Re: Recommendations for Express-Card for MBP
I ordered an ExpressCard from Belkin but I can't seem to get it working with the MBP15 (late '08). I'm assuming the FW800 spec includes power but my G-mini (http://www.g-technology.com/Products/G-DRIVE-mini.cfm) won't power-up when attached to the ExpressCard. The G-mini works fine when attached dir...

Recommendations for Express-Card for MBP
Hi Guys, I've got a late 08 MBP, so just one FW800 port that I'm using for my 828mk3. I need to add some I/O for an external HD for recording. I'm planning to use a G-Tech G-DriveQ (with eSATA and FW800 ports) for the external drive. Does anyone have any comments or advice relative to various brands...

I feel like such a poser, . . . been playing on and off for 40 years and only have five guitars in the current collection. Clearly I have some work to do . . . .

Re: Recommendation for replacement MacBook Pro internal drive
I don't have recommendations for a replacement unit but the actual replacement is dead easy on the "Late '08" models:
1) pull the batter cover
2) remove the battery
3) remove one screw
4) remove hard-drive

Re: reverse engineering "Night By Night"
Mike, Thanks for the response. For some reason I thought that synths were readily available especially to those guys back then in '73 but once you pointed it out it makes more sense that it's a clav. At any rate the synths of that day certainly weren't up to the type of triggering that I had imagine...

reverse engineering "Night By Night"
Hi Guys, I'm not sure where this should be posted but I thought I'd ask here for your advice. Now that I'm equiped with my MBP15 and DP6, it's time to start learning my way around designing sounds worthy of recording. A current project that I'm obsessed with is "Night By Night" by Steely D...

Terratec Axon 50 USB
Any one have any experience with this unit? I really want to explore controlling VI's with a MIDI guitar rather than a keyboard since I am a guitarist first and my keyboard skills are a distant second. I know in some cases I'll have to multi-track the MIDI to get the voicings I want but I'd need eve...

Re: Setting arbitrary measure start time?
I just asked a similar question (relating to pick-up beats), Have a look at the "Set Chunk Start Time" command located in the "Sequence Menu" (pull down menu (small triangle)) just to the left of the time signature in the control panel. This should let you move the location of &q...

Re: Pickup Beats - Newbie Warming
Thanks for the help guys. It makes sense that there had to be a way to do this, . . but I never would have found it without the excellent description. Thanks for the extra detail Schweats. Until the next small emergency . . . .

Pickup Beats - Newbie Warming
Hi Guys, I'm struggling through my first evening with DP6 (brand new to DP all together) . . . I'm trying to figure out how to track a 4 bar vamp with pickup beats. Ideally the measure count would show the pickup beats before the 1st bar. Or do I need to learn to count my measures with an offset fro...
