Re: DP7.01 BTD problems with Melodyne Editor?
re; melodyne material time shifted- remember that there is some consideration that if you edit (snip, splice etc.) material you may have to redo your melodyne "load". A couple of versions ago DP's bounce to disk didn't seem to include VI's in the bounce- maybe DP's way of bouncing is a lit...

Re: Melodyne Editor Released
In a halfhour testing Harmony EFX it's harmonies took all the attack off the harmonies for plucked strings. Tried several settings. Maybe intentional so vocals don't build up consonant's, sss's and plosives, but kind of limiting for other applications.

Re: Open Labs Soundslate -- another external VST host concept
Doesn't receptor require receptor versions of plugins, which are not always as current or as varied and abundant as VST for windows plugins. So if openlabs can use any windows compatible VST that would be an advantage, and further advantage if it's OS can be updated etc. In general though- how relia...

Re: DP 7 w/ DAE - tempo sync? (w/Stylus, etc)
Briefly tried dp 7 (not .01) on G5 PCI-x PPC, 10.5.something , PT 8.0cs3 (Pt8.01 makes some previously usable plugins unusable according to duc.digidesign.com posts) with one instance kontakt instrument. Pressed play a couple of times and didn't freeze. So possibly there is something in your systems...

Pitch Change Plug with MIDI Note On Control?
Does any body know of any Pitch change plugins whose pitch change amount could be controlled by a MIDI Note message- or even a patch change?

Re: DP 7 w/ DAE - tempo sync? (w/Stylus, etc)
" In fact, I don't get the RTAS memory error notices like I do when using PT8.01 with the same plugs and set ups." That would be great news if applicable to all the PT users who have gripes with the inefficiency of RTAS VI's. Is it possible though, that it is a 10.4/PT7 difference from the...

Re: Pro tools LE
"Pro Tools only takes 4 gig files" If you are talking about entire sessions, ProTools definitely does much bigger sessions. If you are talking about individual audio files, you have some pretty long audio files as 96k stereo 2hours long (single file) should fit within 4 gigs. Might be easi...

Re: Moving up to a Mac Pro: Software Authorizations?
Guid is required for a boot drive on an intel mac. Otherwise HFS+ seems fine. In fact GUID might just be the partitioning component on the drive which is otherwise HFS+. (Check if this is critical). Data migration is not likely to preserve any or many authorizations. Cloning a drive would at minimum...

Re: Any Benefit of using DAE with DP
Trippit's assessment makes sense. Maybe you should just try a project or two Native, see if your needs or aural sensitivities are happy. If you have a D/A you could use that to monitor from the optical out of the computer (a HiFi amp might even have one). You can switch to DAE whenever you want - th...

Re: 8pre line input quality vs ultralite?
Thank you so much for your reply. So presumably on the 8pre since there are 8 combo jacks (XLR with 1/4" in the center) there are 8 di's. What sort of change to the audio quality would occur with a piezo that prefers 10megohm? Bass Roll off? Since the only 1/4" inputs on the 8pre are combo...

8pre line input quality vs ultralite?
Decades ago mixing boards which required patching through the mic preamps padded down to use them as line inputs sometimes compromised the sound quality. Is this noticable when using line inputs from mixing boards live etc.(-10 to +4 nominal, with typical live peaks) on the 8pre interface? It's mic ...

Re: No audio click running on DAE?
Digiclick instrument plug in does work in DAE mode, just a bit of a nuisance to have to add a track to hear a click. It can be handy to have a mixer ( or monitor station that allows multiple simultaneous source monitoring) with the audio outputs of the computer routable to the monitors simultaneousl...

Re: Question about tempos and audio
Also for future reference if you have at least one MIDI track in the PT session (even if it is just a dummy track) you can export an SMDI file from PT with the PT tempo map and import that into a new DP session before bringing in the audio. Or manually recreate the meter and tempo before importing o...

Re: How's the new Kontakt 3.5 beta working?
Tripit, Are you in leopard or tiger? Which PT/DAE engine do you have installed? If you are on DP 5.1x then preumably you have only 1 set of stereo outputs per Kontakt instance. If that is the case How many K3.5 instances do you think would be stable with a more moderate session in DP, like 60 tracks...
