Re: "The Glue"
Just to offer another opinion, and having used a real SSL E/G+ with the bus comp, and all the different emulations, there are better bus compressors out there. I much prefer the SPL Iron (real or plugin) because it just does so many nice things to the mix. There's nothing wrong with the SSL bus comp...

Re: Processor overload while using key command
Check the "Commands" window. Maybe Memory Cycle got re-assigned somehow. Or at least, maybe reassigning it might stop that from happening.difab4 wrote:Thanks Steve it worked, no longer spiking processor.
Hitting the command still turns on memory cycle though, but I can live with it.

Re: Processor overload while using key command
I had the same issues. Goto: Setup > Configure Hardware & increase the "Prime Milliseconds" setting. MOTU support suggested 500 (default is 125). FWIW, in DP8 the default was 2.5 seconds (2500 ms). The highest DP9 will allow is 1000ms.

Re: Multi-Channel .wav files & DP
Just to follow up, for those playing along at home: It seems MOTU never expected anyone to want to open a multi-channel .wav and have it split up into separate tracks. I was able to get it to show up as a 5 channel surround track (sort of a 5.1 without the .1)...but because the 5 channels are all di...

Re: Multi-Channel .wav files & DP
I am waiting for a reply from MOTU, but in the meantime I found this software from Sound Devices: https://www.sounddevices.com/products/accessories/software/wave-agent It spits out mono & stereo files from multi-channel .wav files quickly & easily. You can select how the files export and com...

Thanks for that. That started happening to me as well...out of nowhere on older projects.

Re: Multi-Channel .wav files & DP
I can import the file - it just sees it as a single channel (mono) file, when it actually has 5 channels. Pro Tools opens it properly. I just really would rather not work in Pro Tools...but if I have to open it there it's just easier to keep it there rather than exporting everything to individual tr...

Multi-Channel .wav files & DP
I'm working with a videographer who is using a SoundDevices unit that records all channels to a single multi-channel .wav file that he sends to me. It typically has 5 channels. Am I correct in assuming DP just doesn't support multi-channel files? Every time I try to open one (import or drag) it thin...

Re: Sennheiser Pro Talk Videos - audio post all in DP
I just grabbed 9.52. The update pushed me over the edge. I like it. In my quick testing I notice it is more efficient than DP8 on the same project. Definitely a win. DP was the only thing holding me back from High Sierra (holding out on Sierra). So I may clone my boot SSD and attempt the update tomo...

Sennheiser Pro Talk Videos - audio post all in DP
Just another win for DP. I'm doing the audio post for all the 2018 Sennheiser Pro Talk videos in DP. Though, I'm thinking it's time to move up to DP 9. I've been sticking with v8 because I've had zero issues & always get nervous changing a smoothly operating workflow. As with everything these da...

Re: PreSonus FaderPort
Just wanted to follow up on this. I did get myself the xTouch & concur...it's solidly built. I'm trying to figure out all the buttons at this point. It would be nice if they actually included documentation! So, that's my only gripe. No documentation. But I can live with that. I'll get it figured...

Re: Audio File Length Discrepancy Between Bounce & Real Time
for those wondering - a bounce to disk yields the expected file length. So I'm nearly certain it's the pre-record buffer setting. What I haven't done yet was to disable that & try the exact same thing to see if there's a file length difference. I also was wondering if I could get what I want (tr...

Re: Audio File Length Discrepancy Between Bounce & Real Time
What kind of “cleaning” are you talking about? Noise reduction, in particular, has been responsible for altering file length- both in internal bounces from DP and stand alone apps. I don’t know why, it just is. You should be able to do a clean bounce from DP that matches but be careful that your st...

Audio File Length Discrepancy Between Bounce & Real Time
Can anyone help shed some light on this: Editing a dialogue track for a video & ran into this curious issue. Delivered audio is an M-S track, so I do the following: [1] take the M-S track & process it to a standard L/R track via direct recording to a new stereo audio track (not a bounce...ju...

Re: DP 5.1 and MacBook Pro touchbar
Keep in mind that just because your system has 6 or 4 cores doesn't mean DP is using them. Software has to be made multi-core aware. I'm not sure where DP falls in the multi-core aware camp. I'd bet that DP 5.1 is not multi-core aware. So the only real benefit it sees is raw CPU speed and RAM. Well,...
