Any word from MOTU at AES?

Hey, I think we have some folks at the show, has anyone stopped by the MOTU booth at AES and said "wassup?" I'm dying to know if they have any comments on things like DP6, Logic 8, Leopard -- seems like there are so many things that they could be saying right now. It would be great to get ...

Another way that I can repeatably get clicks and pops is by using the same, or pieces of the same, soundbite playing in multiple tracks at the same time. Makes sense, as I guess I am asking the system to go to two places at once on the hard drive. My solution is to select one of the doubled soundbit...

Oh, got it! So many little tricks in this program, I love it.

This seems cool, I'll try it with some speech and see how it does.

thanks again to all.

OK, I think I am missing something simple! I don't know how to drag a soundbite and make it shorter -- I know how to edge edit, but I am wondering how to do what you are describing.

How to get that super-speed talking effect

So, is there a simple way to speed up talking, like at the end of typical annoying radio commercials (no money down APR 12% limited time offer while supplies last). It sounds like they are pulling out all the spaces in the soundbite, which of course I could do by hand, but I figure there MUST be an ...

Thanks all for the replies, I already had Audiofinder, so I just dumped all the SDII files to one folder, selected them all in Audiofinder, and picked convert to wave.

Done. Great!

OK, thanks -- yes, the files are going to a Protools studio (7.3) but I didn't know if it would pull them in and convert them. Sounds like it will, cool!

Easy way to convert a slew of SDII files to .wav?

I need to send a whole lot of bounced surround mixes to a studio that wants them as individual .wav files, and I have bounced the mixes to separate SDII files, and have them all in one folder.

Anyone know a relatively painless way to convert them all to wave files, in one fell swoop?

One thing to check -- do you have the same sample rate set from both applications? If they are not the same that might cause this type of problem.

Good luck!

This is interesting, from the East West forum's Doug Rogers:

"Apple decided to not give advance copies of this release to third party developers to keep it a secret."

So he couldn't even say if Play or the EW Kontakt would work!

Here's a feature that caught my attention:

Tape-style scrubbing

Clearly hear audio at any speed while scrubbing the playhead to find important edit points.

it's not like they're just giving you an update of logic 7, the instruments, loop browsing, etc...they're throwing in compressor (dolby digital/surround encoding...3/4 of the reason i was going to buy fcs), soundtrack pro2 (a "for real" external editor), etc etc etc, . GARRR! I just bough...

It's pretty amazing... this news is a big step forward for the DAW world, we'll see how everyone else responds. Oh -- distributed audio? Methinks it is the thing that lets you offload CPU load onto other Macs. The other computers have to be hooked up with Gigabit Ethernet for this trick to work. I s...
