mastering audio for iPhone apps

Hello all, Does anyone have any suggestions for mastering audio for iPhone apps/games/etc? A friend of mine who works in app development came to me with an audio problem. He had created a sound in GarageBand for use in an app, and when he played it back over the iPhone external speaker, it sounded d...

Re: Video playback offset doesn't work

The reason a 16x9 DV quicktime displays as a 4x3 in DP is because you are most likely exporting an anamorphic 16x9 quicktime file. So the image is still 720x480, but the pixel aspect ratio is such that the file displays as 16x9 in FCP or any other program that reads the anamorphic meta data in the Q...

I've had similar problems with other programs. Namely Final Cut Pro. Supposedly the last OS update (10.5.3?) was going to address some of there issues, but I still get them from time to time. I think spaces isn't really "finished" yet. Love using it though, somehow makes my mind less clutt...

DP 6 looks pretty fricken sweet.

I wonder if it will finally get contextual menus (right click menus)? Been waiting for that for awhile...

fazmanicg,

Thanks for this thread. I have the EXACT same problem with the 828MkII, so it's most likely an 8pre issue. The ADAT clock solution sounds like it should work, I'll have to give it a try.

I noticed that as well, the tracks by themselves, without touching the faders, and maybe just panning them around a bit, gets you a good mix. Just goes to show how much a difference good tracking makes.

Truly amazing stuff.

I've got the 6Ds as well. Pretty nice. Although I'll throw my name in the hat about the SPDIF level control. I wish there was a way to map the volume control of the 828mkII Main Out to the SPDIF out instead. I've noticed a much cleaner signal with virtually no noise from the SPDIF out into the 6Ds, ...

Shoosie,

I forgot to mention that I'm using Soundsoap Pro, which is the more expensive version. So ironically, if I had gotten the cheaper version, I would be all set, as Soundsoap 2 now runs on Intel macs, but the "pro" users are currently screwed.

Soundsoap is a good mid-level noise reduction plug. HOWEVER, one note of evil about it is that it will not run on Intel macs. And considering the update is past due by about one year, it may be abandonware as far as Bias Inc. is concerned. For me, this enough of a pain in the ass to instead recommen...

yeah, probably just too much to handle for the old PB. I recall that my old PB couldn't handle too many heavy-duty plugs. Two or more instances of Soundsoap and it would start choking. If only I could actually USE Soundsoap on my new intel mac, that would really be something.

I had that same problem mixing a surround proj on my old powerbook g4 1.25Ghz. Once I discovered how to switch the processor into "fast" mode in the system preferences, it was pretty smooth sailing after that. Not sure if this is your deal, but it couldn't hurt to check.

I've been using FCP since version 1. It was off to a shaky start in that version, but since then has grown to a very professional video editing solution, from small to big budget.

yeah, all my attempts at isolating the crashes seemed to point to having any plugins at all causing the crashing.

I'm having the same exact problems here with my MacBookPro, OS 10.4.7, DP5.1. Random crashes, bounce to disk is unusable. Had a 2 hour session today and I got 5 crashes. Rotten. I'm using all stock plugs. Trim, EQ, and MW limiter to be exact. automation, bussing, basic stuff. I've been having this p...
