CPU efficient, a given. Do you mean efficiency is already in DP5? Cause I don't think so. Compare Logic and DP on the same computer running VI's. That makes a total difference. MOTU said that in DP6, they've made it CPU efficient for VI's and I'm going to look foward to it. Since that would be the ...

Did MOTU announce the System Requirements? They say its CPU efficient so I'm guessing its more efficient compared to DP5. So that means that if DP5 is running without any problems, DP6 would run just fine too. So that mean if DP5 is running well on a G4 nicely, DP6 will run more smoothly.(Cause they...

I`m trying to use IK Multimedia`s Amplitube 2 on OS 10.3.9, but when opening DP and when DP is gathering info for the plugin, it just crashes. Amplitube 2 has been release in early April, and now its June. I`ve been waiting months for this to be fixed but it still isn`t fixed. It looks like it has s...

I hope MOTU rewrites it for the Intel version.. But I have the same worries as mastermix. If they don`t rewrite it, it will get more heavier and heavier. I heard that its really the core part of DP thats making it heavy. Like the part where DP tries to sync MIDI and MAS. So as long as they don`t rew...

the amount of work it would require would not yeild significant enough gains to warrant the cost of such an endeavor. I`ve heard the same. But not here. What I`ve heard other then this is, the programmers for DP changed many times for the past years, and the programmers who came afterwards just ana...

I agree with mastermix. Giving an example for differences between, "supporting" Altivec and "optimized" for Altivec. If a person could play baseball no matter how bad or good but could actually play, this is "support". On the otherhand, if a person is really good at pla...

Re: Optimization for Altivec

Thanks for your reply, emulatorloo :)

Yes I can tell that Digital Performer supports Altivec and
it gives some performance boost.
But it doesn`t say anything about optimization.
I`m not talking about if Digital Performer supports Altivec or not.
But thanks for the info. It was interesting to read :)

Hey! Jackle , Where did you find DP is not Altivec optimized ? Aramis Try asking MOTU. (Ask them if its optimized. Not if it supports altivec.) The story about DP not being optimized for Altivec has been around for sometime. Hearing it from friends, seeing it in a few BB`s. If you could read Japane...

Yeah, as mastermix says, "Support" and "Optimized" doesn`t mean the same. "Support" means it works. "Optimized" means it works, and its efficient. This is a big difference. No matter how much it is heavy and non-efficient, if it works, you could say "it s...

am I reading this right? G4s and G5s have altivec that is purpose designed to crunch through high volumes of data, specifically DSP according to the tech notes at Apple, and MOTU didn't even bother to optimize their code to take advantage of this?? No wonder Logic is more cpu efficient. It was opti...

Yeah, I guessed so too.

But also wanted to say, after Apple announcing OSX and
Digital Performer switching to OSX, MOTU had time to optimize
Digital Performer for Altivec. But they didn`t, so I thought they
didn`t have enough knowledge or really good programmers over there.

Thanks for the reply :)

Optimization for Altivec

Any story on optimization for Altivec? Because I really think it will give a boost in performance for G4 and G5 Macs which have Altivec.... I`ve been waiting for it since they made is OSX compatible. But have heard no story or even rumors. Or is it impossible for MOTU to do that with their programmi...

I just got an E-mail from Jason at Ik stating that the problem with AT2 is suspected to be the Syncrosoft key. I haven't yet had a chance to try the little test he gave me but I'll let you know more later. Dan Looks like the users who actually buy the product have to pay the price again, because of...

I have A2 working fine on my computer. Go to ikmultimedia.com and download version 2.1. I am using DP 4.61 it takes up a lot of processing power but it is working. I accessed the user area now and looked for 2.1, but there was no 2.1. But only 2.0.1. Or are you talking about 2.0.1 ? Because I`ve in...
