Re: Individual Sample Volumes

Yes — use the List Editor. Make sure to expand both the layer and the keygroup (the triangles next to each is pointing downward) and you'll see an "Output" column. By default, all keygroups are assigned to "[Part] Main Out"; click on that text to open a menu with your available ...

Re: Scripting

yes scripting would help you but M5's scripting does have limitations.

perhaps in the next release

UVI Workstation public beta is out

It uses new audio and GUI engines (which we should see in M5 at some point) and will read UFS soundbanks (like those included in M5). It's free and worth checking out and testing, especially for you PC users who are irritated with M5's GUI bugs! see http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2193...

Several people have had bad disks and needed to get them replaced, especially the sound banks.

however, I dunno why M5 won't start, but as I'm on a PC I can't give you anything to try.

I have MachV and will be crossgrading to Independence Pro. I'll miss the scripting, but overall, from what I've heard from their free version, it has better inbuilt sounds, works more reliably on a PC (not applicable to you, I know) and supporting VST effects is a massive plus. so one negative, albe...

Yellow Tools' Independence Free

Anyone tried it?

Though maybe not as feature rich as M5, it's fast loading time is a big plus.

Am seriously thinking of switching...

Known problems. I'd reported to the mouse problem to Ableton during the Live 5 beta, but they didn't have MachV and had no interest in sorting it out with Motu, due, I guess, to small user base. I get the video problem as well. Motu claim it's a video card problem (possibly true), but I reckon it's ...

re your current setup: I bought a Centrino 2.0 five years ago when they first came out and it's been working well ever since. Recent software requirements mean that I'm still on Live 5 and Sonar 3, but I'm only now coming to the point where I need to upgrade the hardware. Load time with M5 can be lo...

not on a Mac but do you have similar problems with any other memory intensive software (like BFD for example).

There's a slight chance you have a bad RAM chip. If you have a diagnostics program, check your RAM.

Other thing is to make sure you're not running out of disk space.

MOTU could open a Motu channel in youTube... Again, WHY YouTube? MOTU already has a dedicated website they control. What's the obsession with YouTube in this context? Anyone have an objection to registering with the MOTU site for any reason? All you need to do is prove you purchased the program(s)....

Well if you're getting CPU spikes using the standalone then the problem may not be with Sonar.

Can you list your hardware?

K. I don't have Protools, but I'm curious why you mention SB Live, as that should definitely NOT be in your audio chain. Secondly, I'd try downloading a demo of another host and see if you still have the same problem. Try SONAR or Ableton's Live (both great hosts). If they fail as well, then you'll ...

M5 2 seems to load faster than m5 1.2 (less than 10 secs for a new instance and similar for loading a saved file with M5 using 4 instruments, whereas M5 1.2 took close to 5 mins to load a file sometimes. However, I'm using Live 5 and a Centrino 2.0 (not duo core) notebook, also the instruments are n...
