Official DP6 Complaint Page
If history repeats itself...as it alway does...now that we've spent months complaining about how long it has taken for DP6 to be released, we must now prepare ourselves for the inevitable onslaught of complaints about how buggy it is. So, I thought I'd go ahead and do everybody a favor and setup the...

Got it. I'd love to hear even a brief review as soon as you get a chance to put one through its paces. As a point of reference, I'd love to hear how it compares to some other common microphones such as the 414, U87, KSM44, etc... Also, some impressions as to what you think it would be good (and not ...

Sweetwater is the official launch of the MA201FET just as we were with the MA200. It's the same mic, just a FET version----I'm buying one here pretty soon! Hopefully in a few weeks, I'll have some audio samples of Acoustic Guitar and Male Vocals. Does that mean that you haven't heard it in person y...

You might want to look into doing something like this... http://www.prosoundweb.com/news/0506/rbdg_scottie.php The guy in this story is my bro-in-law, and the room that Russ designed for him is really quite amazing. I don't know all the exact dimensions, but for a small space it has a really big sou...

Gotcha..... I'm going to go on a limb here and say what I always say.... MOJAVE MA200! 8) I will say that mic has interested me ever since I first saw you mention it in a post a year or so ago. Unfortunately, I don't know if I can afford one right now, but I might consider just hanging on to my 414...

The issue may not exactly be the mic, but the pre. Try the C414 with something like a Universal Audio Solo610 and you'll feel quite different about it. If you're going to use the 7th Circle Audio, a good tube mic would then be what I'd consider. That being the case, I have to give MAJOR recommendat...

KSM44 or 414B/ULS
I currently own an AKG C414B/ULS and a Seventh Circle Audio N72 (Neve 1272 clone) preamp. 90% of the recordings I do at home are acoustic guitar and either male or female vocals. The 414 does great on acoustic, but I've never really been able to get a vocal sound that I'm happy with. I've been resea...

I wish I could comment on the RME boxes, but I've got no first hand experience with them. I do however own an 828mkII and used to own a ULN-2 (sold it due to lack of i/o). I can tell you that the ULN-2 is night and day better than the 828mkII. The general concencus seems to be that the RME FireFace ...

You might also want to consider a used Metric Halo ULN-2. The mic preamps, clock and converters are all exceptional. The biggest downside to the ULN-2 is its lack of i/o, but it doesn't sound like that would be a concern for your particular applications. They are getting ready to release a newer ver...

Re: Do we EQ in response to the Frequency Response of our Mi
RE: EQ to conspensate for mic responses -- Here's the only rule to EQ: Use it to make things sound better to you. There's no equation here. It's application is part of the subjective art of mixing. You know one of the things I miss most about working on old school analog boards is the fact that you...
