Yes I built this myself, that center area is a smoked window.

Cool, did you float the floor/room, if not how's the bass transmission?
Looks like alot of work. My place has concrete floors covered with wood tiles. The walls and ceiling are concrete to but I do get some leakage from the windows. I'm trying to buy a bigger place but I'm afraid I won't be as lucky as I was to get this place. I'm probably going to have to build a room like you did that's why I have the questions.

I'm both humbled and motivated by these pics. I'll post some tonight but, wow, you guys are uptown!
Correction, they are DA-88's

Talk about uptown, your equipment list is amazing!
Can't wait to see the photos.
Double doh! One for mis-IDing your DA-88s, and the other for not getting any pics posted. Here's some... belated. I need a new place, but that's not happening anytime soon, sigh.

qo, where do you have the g5 & ghost power supply hidden away? Those are the two noisiest & hottest pieces in my studio.

I really want to build a mini-machine room for these items but it seems there's a limit to the length of cable for the apple displays?

qo,

You're such a humble person calling us "Uptown"
Your place is hot!!! I've been dreaming of owning some V Drums, and might have those or Yamaha DTxtreme IIs soon.
The Ghost console is the best sounding board in that price range hands down. I have a Tascam M3500 in storage that I used to use, and I actually miss the sound of that board. Here's a picture of my old studio.

Machine Room?
Nice!
What kind of guitar is that on your console?

Jim and kwiz, nice pics! Those cymbals are to die for Jim. RCory, is that an Argosy desk? I love this thread :-)

First, I love the colors in your space. Very relaxing. And, those high ceilings must be nice!

I use ADC extenders for the Mac:

Gefen

Specifically, I use two of these for the 23" display. This ADC extender works wonderfully. Though, one of them arrived with the strain-relief broken between the cable on the right-side connector (the right-side of the pic at the "two of these" URL). No biggie, I took the thing apart and fixed it rather than hassling with a return.

For Firewire extension, I've used Gefen repeaters, but tried a cheap four-port FW400 hub at frys and that works as well, for 1/3 the cost. Both are self-powered off the mac's FW port. The Gefen can also optionally be powered from a wall wart (not supplied).

Prior to the Ghost, the mac was in a separate bedroom. But, as you know, the Ghost power supply cable isn't long enough for that. So, having to move everything around once more to accommodate the console, I moved the mac, etc, into a closet in the same room as everything else and heavily padded it with blankets on the wall adjoining the control...er...bedroom. The closet is on the other side of the wall with the artsy carpet in the pics.

:-) The V-Drums are fun. Can't say I've really put them to use yet as I'm not a drummer and every drummer that's stepped foot in here took a look and said "Uh, I'll run get my drums..." :-) Oh well! They do come in really handy after a stressful day at work just to have something to bang on, heh

That's a Ztar, made by Starrlabs. It's the one that causes me the most stuck MIDI notes :-) I think that's because it can send multiples of the same note at once e.g. from the chicklet frets, and from it's pads (the black thingy on the body where the neck and body meet). I have a theory, based on a thread on the CoreAudio list, that CoreAudio, or MOTU, doesn't handle multiple simultaneous note on's (without any note off's) for the same note well. I've never had stuck notes when plugged straight into a synth, so it's gotta be an interaction thing between this and Apple/MOTU.

LOL! Roland had a special when I bought this where they threw in the tom :-) I use it as a trigger to start and stop playback of the internal sequencer (this function is normally mapped to the rim of one of the cymbals and I kept accidently triggering it). I hadn't read the manual (natch) before playing these and the first time I accidently triggered this, the sequence volume was set way high and the resulting sound was like the world was ending. I was wearing phones, and about fell off the throne

Roland, yeah! And, I see a BFD box too! Have you used the keymap file for Roland that's on fxPansion's site? Or, maybe you created it! ;-) I haven't tried yet, but it's on the todo list.

Now that's both clever and cool.

Yes, more, more Mr. Spike!

And, now that we've seen the clean side of folk's places, what about the underside? C'mon, you guys know you instinctively pointed the camera everywhere but here...
