Audio recordings sounding glitchy and delayed on steinberg UR44

Post by samsonwilliams »

Hello,

When I record audio it starts well, but after a while it starts to sound glitchy, with reverb, delayed, choppy and all kinds of other stuff... (I don't even know how to describe it).

I'm using MacOS Monterey with a Steinberg UR44.

I haven't been able to have a decent audio session since.

Unlike the MOTU interfaces, I do not know if the UR44 will run without drivers (Core Audio) or not. I would start with this page that has the latest drivers, bulletins and tools.

If your drivers are up to date, I would try booting in Safe Mode and see if you have basic functionality—how depends on your Mac, Apple has support docs on this.

Try removing the Steinberg drivers completely and see what happens.

Steinberg has pretty good support. I have done screen sharing sessions with them to solve installation problems with Dorico. The Steinberg Download Assistant is a horrible piece of crapware and they know it.
