Interesting…. I am in the market for a unified box to replace my hodgepodge assembly of NAS boxes and Time Capsules (none newer than 14 years).

Has a lot of features that WD has yet to offer—but if you don’t need them, the UGREEN is more expensive.

Synology has a line that uses a modified RAID 0 that uses a spare drive to prevent data loss. Like the UGREEN, you need a minimum of four drives for this. In addition, four is where 10GB Ethernet is available. Without the GoFundMe 40% discount, the prices are about the same. Synology boxes can take 2.5" SSDs without adapters which appeals to me but adapters are cheap.

HDDs are too noisy, one of the factors driving this for me. Affordable SSDs top out at 8TB but multi-drive boxes make this a non-issue. A 4-drive box meets my immediate need.

I have a ton of questions but may participate in the GoFundMe if I like the answers. Thanks for the heads up!
